Cats don't come when they are called,
They take a message and get back to you later.

Just wanted to update this situation to say the female has been handed over. :)

Sadly, nope - miles away!

Have spoken to a CPL representative and she's said if we can get the cat into our care (the male's already on the list to foster) then they'll take the female as well.

Didn't really want it to turn into a covert operation, but apparantly the lady is saying she doesn't want to just hand over the female "Because she wants her to go to a good home." Interesting that she thinks a rescue would give her to anything but! (Although, in some cases rescues have proven pretty useless.)

JS

I can imagine how you feel. I'd feel the same, I'm sure.

But if you do pull off a rescue of these cats, I'll gladly offer the use of my spare room as an emergency/temp measure until something more satisfactory can be sorted. (I don't like to commit myself to anything unless I'm sure I can deliver). That's providing you live with reasonable distance of Kent.

I guess my options are pretty limited.

And CC, yes it is only certain branches, but having worked for our local branch (albeit a fair few years ago) I know they put animals to sleep then that had nothing wrong with them.

I'll try and talk to someone at the CPL again, see what they advise.

JS, i know what you mean but if they stay with her then their outlook is even more bleak? I dont think they would take them in the first visit but it may be enough to make her think (note the word may!)

Maybe report her to the RSPCA? I know things have been said about them that are not good but is that some branches or the RSPCA in total?

Maybe they are they only authority that can help?  :shy:

These cats need to be taken away from her and prevention is needed so she cant have any other animals.

Will they do that? Or will they seize the cats? I'm concerned what will happen to them if they're taken in by that particular rescue. :shy:

I assume she wont be bothering to get veterinary treatment for the cat? If thats the case the rspca may be able to issue one of their improvement notices and maybe scare her a bit.  :shify:

Michelle, PM sent.

Lynn, nope they're moggies. My family member was horrified when she was called to say "Right, they're six weeks now. You've got to come and collect it or I'll give it someone else."

A member of my family bought a kitten off a lady that lived near another relative.

When the family member mentioned it to them, they told her to be careful. Transpires this lady has already allowed her cat to have three litters this year. All her teats are cracked and sore. The poor girl's around 6.

Anyway, this family member called me and told me further things (including the fact that the kittens are being sold at six weeks) and I now have no clue on what to do.

I have already contacted the local CPL who have organised vouchers for this lady and sent them out, but if she's going to let her girl out to breed anyway they can't do anything else can they?

I hate the fact that this cat is being treated than nothing more than a money making machine, but can't do much else about it. The lady is apparantly now selling the female and (an unneutered) male from a previous litter. But even if I got the money together to buy the poor girl, I'd have nowhere for her.  :( What to do!
