My clothes come out of the washing machine as furry as when they went it. CATS! It's a good job we love 'em.

I now make a point of buying clothes that won't show fur too much, I use the lint roller but there's always a stray hair that makes it through...any dark colours are a no-no as is white so now I have a wardrobe that wouldn't look out of place in Balamory!

I have been approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was completely honest with her and told her that Rosie had been attacked, but now was an indoor cat etc.

She told me that, they are more interested in the people, rather than the house etc. She was lovely.

I am so pleased!! I was so nervous!

Thanks for all the support guys. I mentioned this site and now need to find who mentioned 9 lives rescue on here as I said I would e-mail her the link. They have a lot of FIV cats needing homes and I mentioned Mark.

Well, I have gone all around the flat and checked things, the only thing the homecheck lady, may have an issue with is the cables behind the television. I went out yesterday to buy some cable tidies, but couldn't find any!

My home doesn't look like a showhome, well lived in ? - yes!

Just waiting now........................................she said she would be here between 11am and 12pm.

I love wearing black, but this quickly gets covered with white fur.

So I wear white, which quickly gets covered with black fur.

So I wear fur - shed fur!

This issue of homechecks worries me too. I'm aware that my oldies are pushing their luck, agewise, and the day will come when they will move to the bridge.
I'm such a dreadful housefrau I'm almost ashamed to have anyone other than close friends cross my threshold. Although I am a perfect cat owner

scream S and P, and the house is cat-comfy, I worry that a 'homecheck' implies that "we're going to make sure your house is up to scratch and fit for a cat to live in".

Maybe the rescue peeps could put the minds of us ordinary cat lovers to rest

Good luck with the homecheck - I'm sure you'll be fine. When I do homechecks I just make sure that the cat won't be in any imminent danger i.e. busy road etc and has access to a garden (if not an indoor cat) and basically if the person understands the needs of a cat, etc. The fact that a home may be not a show home is not a consideration, after all my home is certainly not a show home, not with all my lot - and the cats certainly don't seem to mind!

Thanks everyone, the lady is coming between 11am - 12pm, which is great as one friend of my Son's will have gone by then, and he then has another friend coming a 3pm. So at least it won't be such a madhouse. I should charge for childminding really shouldn't I?

My house should be made out of cat fur! It would disguise the amount of fur in it. Everything is covered even my verticals I have to hoover.

for the sofa (red velvet) I use a damp rubber glove and it just rolls the fur up into "sausages" then you can vacuum them off - I am just sticking to using the CP cat blankets in future. The crocheted ones I got from Ela at the auction are best as they don't seem to attract the fur so much.

Good old bristle brush is good for furniture and rugs - hard work but comes up as new.

As for the jumpers? God only knows, that is one of life's mysteries!

I was terrified when I had my homecheck as I had some cardboard boxes in the garden etc. The homechecker laughed and said cats love boxes. I think a lot of people think they are going to be judged by their decor or carpets but as far as cats go, things like that are the least important things. If someone only had a 1 jumper to their name but said the cat can have it for a bed its better than someone who will buy it all the toys going and not give it any attention. I guess its the same as with kids.

Thanks, Rosie has never had an accident inside thank fully, so I guess common sense has something to do with it! I make sure everything is safe as though there is a baby around.

I was just shocked that it happened so quickly! I only contacted them on Sunday.

From the rescue's I've spoken to it's mostly done over the phone (must to my annoyance - I have trouble still understanding some UK accents on the phone).

I don't think your place has to be spotless just cat friendly. Good luck and hopefully you'll find the perfect friend for Rosie.

As you know, I have been contemplating whether or not to get a companion for Rosie and another Master for us!!

I wanted to offer a home to a rescue and have contacted a few without much success as I want to rehome an indoor only cat, not fussed about breed, colour, sex or age!

I contacted 9 lives cat rescue as alot of their cats are elderly or have special needs, and I am having a homecheck on Saturday - to be honest I didn't think it would be that quick, but am worried as the flat will be in a mess as my Son has a friend staying over Friday night, or they will think it's too small........or loads of things!!

I was quite surprised as this was all done via e-mail, nobody has called me to have a chat or anything. Is this normal???
