it was so funny watching him earlier ... he was sitting in the window chattering at the birdies ... but all that was coming out was a funny little croack ... even his sister Foxy was looking at him as if to say "what was that stupid noise!

Zephyr has never been one for "nice little mirrups" ... he's a very vocal boy and most of the time I get WOOOOOW  however at the moment all he can managed is a silly little wooow

Well I've been a bad mummy .... I hadn't really noticed any change in Zeph's voice so I sort of ignored it ... he was eating, drinking and seemed fine I was beginning to think I was imagining his voice was quieter ... until last night!   My poor boy was lying on my pillow and I noticed he was sounding quite wheezy, then this morning his voice had gone completely ... no sound whatsoever!

I took him to the vets this evening and was told his lymph glands up up a bit, and he was indeed a bit wheezy when they listened to his chest, his temperature is fine but the vet thinks he has laryngitius and a bit of a chest infection :(  He gave him a shot of anti-inflamatories, another shot of something else (can't remember what), and a two week course of anti-biotics.  He want to see him again on Friday to see if his voice is better and if not he might have to stick a camera down his throat!  My poor baby.

Zephyr is fine in himself, still eating, drinking and rushing about and is currently out chasing bugs.

Cheers mate that's what I need to hear.  You know what it's like -  able to give advice to everyone else but when it comes to my furbabes I go into panic mode!

And you're right boys are such "pussy's" sometimes!

for a proper look yes but my guess is they'd check him over, take his temp, feel all his glands to see if any were enlarged and open his mouth to see if they could see anything obvious or red looking down there .. on the history you've given i cannot see them knocking him out just now without giving it the "wait x days and if your still not happy" routine LOL.

if he hasnt been let out on top of you going AWOL then it would fit that he has been roaring his little head of....Boys such cry babies  :evillaugh:

Thanks Lynn .... I think I'll leave it til next week.  He was hollering perfectly well before I went away so he may have been yelling a bit too much I suppose.  The people that were looking after him didn't let him out so he would have been doing his usual trick of yelling at the back door to be let out.

Am I right in thinking he would have to be knocked out for the vet to have a look down his throat?

i'd give it a few days, if you still feel he is the same then go to the vets.  Ordinarily i'd say he will be fine but do you really think its been "off" since your hols ?

Who was looking after them while you were away, perhaps he was calling alot for you then ?

Zephyr is losing his voice .... I noticed when I came back from holiday he wasn't "yelling" as loudly.  I have just seen/heard him outside putting the little black cat from down the street in it's place by howling at it but it most definitely not as impressive as his normal deep yowl ... he sounds croacky and not like his normal Siamese-type noise  :(  He is fine in himself, eating, drinking, playing, sleeping and to the untrained ear you wouldn't know there was anything wrong.

Do you think I should take him to the vet or should I leave it for a few more days and see if he gets his voice back?
