I have 2 radiator beds on the livingroom one and 9 times out of ten even if the heating is off they are both filled with cats.Usually Harvey and Sebastian crammed into 1 and either Toffee of Magnum in the other. Although Toffee has taken to slepping on the dogs bed behind the sofa.

This one is fab as its a 2 in 1. If you take it off and swivel it round it becomes a sofa for the cat.

Great, then I will wait until I take possession of my new home and have a chance to find out what sort of central heating I have before I rush out and buy one. They look wonderfully relaxing ... Wouldn't mind one myself on a snowy day ...

their radiator bed...it gets toasty warm but nowhere near hot enough to be a fire hazard - unless you live on the sun

Humphrey, Dave, Imogen and the lovely Mavey were never particularly interested in it though.

Completely agree, I dog sat for a friend once and the dog ripped open a beanbag, took me days to capture all the 'beans', then I foolishly put them in a black sack under the stairs in case they wanted to repair the bean bag... The dog found the sack and ripped that open too

Ah yes, I had that problem in Brisbane were all you wear to bed is the ceiling fan. And what happens? Siamese stretched full length down one side, aby down the other side and a large turkish angora at the feet - bliss ..... (not)

OMG All the way through winter I had to turn my heating off to go to bed as its too hot

In fact I usually sleep on top of the bed! Although the hotter it is the more Amber wants to cuddle

Radiator beds are safe and are made to hang on radiators

I used to have storage heater radiators andthey had a big notice on saying do not put things on the top but they did get very hot overnight and then cool down during the day. I now have standard radiators where hot water is pumped through and they dont get hot enough to set on fire as the water temperature is 60 max from a communal boiler room. Saying that I dont have radiator beds as both cats tend to lie on the back of the settee when the radiators are on.

I hang clothes on radiators too when winter or raining, I dont think they get hot enough to start a fire?

Not sure about the fire proof sign Helen, just I though as it would be near heat there would be one?

What is needed to start a fire? I cant remember the triangle, oxygen, fuel and ? Heat?

Thanks for that reassurance Mark. I am not familiar with central heating and was erring on the side of caution. The clothes hanging thing relates to column heaters and may not have relevance to radiators in the central heating sense. So many new things to learn ...

A radiator won't get hot enough to start a fire. I thought of getting one for Willow but if Kylie tries to get in in, it will come off the wall

(I know I said that about Kylie once before - as she pointed out, she can't help being big boned and afte all, she only eats what she's given!

My cats love beanbags, I did buy them for myself but the cats claimed them from day 1. Cheeper too, I think they were £5.

They should come with a fire proof sign on them, I don't think they would be flamable if made to be hung on a radiator?

I have been cruising the pet supply sites and have come across a wonderful looking invention called a radiator bed which hangs off the central heating radiator giving your furry friend an elevated comfy and heated bed. But the ex-volunteer firefighter in my is saying this is a really bad idea since hanging washing on radiators is not recommended. Does anyone have any views on this. As otherwise it looks like a very attractive option. Thanks
