It's not just to check that your home is suitable for a cat, though that's obviously important, but if it's possible they'll match you with the right cat. I obviously don't know what was said about me after the homecheck for Bramble, but she seems happy with my other two cats, even if she's not to fussed about me (except when she wants food!)

I had a homecheck when I applied to adopt my little darlings.

The lady from CP did a visual check around, but mostly asked a fair few questions to understand my attitude towards cats.  She also asked me what sort of cat I was looking for (I hadn't been picked by my 3 at that time), and got an idea of what I knew about keeping cats.  She asked if I had any other pets or humans, or if I was planning to add to the 'family' in the future.  Oh, and she asked my reasons for adopting a cat/cats, and why I had decided to do so at that time.  I think she was very thorough, and rightly so :)

ive had 2 homechecks

one when i got me dog and one when i got molly

with the dog ,they sent a dog warden round to do the check as they couldnt find anyone available to do it , she checked the garden and made sure it was encolsed and secure and that was it ,

with molly they just come round and met me and my oh and the dog and the other cats had a cuppa tea and a chat and left , they didnt want to check the garden as they only wanted an indoor home for her as she had been in all her life  ;D

its something id like to do is do home checks for a rescue  ;)

That's what I thought Gill.  I have been asked what it involves and never having gone through it I could only guess it was to check you don't live on a main road, don't have herds of rowdy kids, vicious dogs etc and are aware of what is involved in looking after a cat.

Just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed any vital points :)

In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

When I had one they just came to see what the place was like and meet me and to see if it was safe for cats.

I guess it maybe a bit different if you have not had a cat before but they knew that Kocka had only gone to the Bridge a couple of days before and I was desperate for another cat, well a pair who are Sasa and Misa
