It was worrying, because it's so unlike her. She's stayed out overnight before, but always returned the next morning.

That must've been so worrying Dave.  Very glad she made it safe home.  She's such a little beauty.    :)

A month or so ago, Bramble went AWOL for just over 24 hours, and was so nervous when she came back she hid in dark corners and would only come out for food and to use the litter tray. She's been getting braver gradually, and she's almost back to her old self. She even stayed put long enough for me to go and fetch my camera!

It's not too difficult when they're sleeping!  ;D
I'd like to get some action shots, but Clio and Bramble don't do much, and Lily moves too fast most of the time.  ;D

This is now a regular occurrence, even when Clio is there, Bramble provides an extra headrest:

I thought Lily might start feeling left out, but apparently not:

She's certainly making up for lost time - it's a bit of a nuisance sometimes, but I haven't the heart to push her away, even when she headbutts the hand I using the mouse with!

Wonders never cease! Bramble has started sitting on my lap, though she's keeping her front paws on the arm of the chair, just in case she feels the need for a quick getaway!

Thanks, I just hope it doesn't take another 9 years to get her to sit on my lap!

I tried not to move for a while, because I thought that might scare her off when I came back and walked towards her, but when I did she stayed put, much to my surprise. All she did was have a stretch and turn round.
I was able to get to my camera too!

Bramble getting less prickly!
« Reply #1 on: October 24, 2015, 15:40:50 PM »
When I first got Bramble as a kitten, I was told she got her name because of her prickly nature. She's never been aggressive (although she once bit my finger when she was licking meat juices off my hand after I'd been cutting up a joint!), but she still runs away when I walk towards her. She occasionally comes to me for attention, but only if she's got an escape route!
About half an hour ago, I looked away from my computer, and wondered where she was. It's been raining, so I had the back door shut with the cats inside. I could see Lily, but not Bramble, so I started to get up to check on her. As I did, I saw Bramble out of the corner of my eye. She'd been on the back of my chair all the time, and she's so settled she's still there as I type this.
This probably doesn't sound like a big deal, but it's taken 9 years to get to this stage, so I feel a great sense of achievement!
I couldn't reach my camera, so these were taken with a webcam, so the picture quality isn't great.
