Alison, treasure, my heart goes out to you. I know that you were half expecting this, but it still comes as an absolute shock. It may sound like platitudes to you just now, but you gave Parki so much love and affection, she wanted for nothing. The decision you've made was taken from love, as everything you've done for her has been.

That said, it does nothing to ease the pain, and the emptiness left behind that you have to handle.

Good luck for tomorrow. I'm going through a very similar thing with Kylie right now, so know how you feel. She is on hunger strike, terrible diarrhoea, rapidly losing weight again. She is in for ultrasound next Wednesday and possibly a digital x-ray (they won't risk a biopsy with her). My vets are in the process of moving, hence the delay. All we can do is try to be positive

All fingers toes and paws crossed for Parki to make it through surgery. One of my stable cats had a similar operation a good few years ago, had a tumour cut out and her intestines stitched back together. Sadly though it turned out to be lymphoma and she went downhill after that. Hopefully the carcinoma won't have spread and your vet can remove it all ok

Alison, not what you wanted to hear, I appreciate, but all is not lost, for sure. Your vet sounds empathetic and that counts for much in my book.

Results are in, vet just phoned

Parki does not have lymphoma but carcinoma. The vet spoke for ages, he has a cat, With his guidance I am taking her in at 8.30 for an op tomorrow. If, during the op they find it is worse than thought I will get a phone call and with sadness I will decide that it is best if she does not wake up.

They will keep her in over night for pain relief then the stitches come out a wk later. There is a risk of leakage and that would mean another op as they are rejoining her intestine up.

She can't eat after 9pm tonight

As I know everyone will understand my brain is in a whirl
