Joe Bagpuss, aka GI Joe, was we believe, left behind when his owners moved away.
Not doing well at all on the outside he found himself on the wrong end of a scrap and came out with some wounds that would not heal. He was being fed by a kind lady who looks after other strays, but eventually he had to be brought in for medical treatment where it was discovered he has a soft, if understandably cautious, nature.
Sadly for Joe his wounds have still not healed properly. He's bored in his rescue pen and although I try to spend as much time with him as I can, he has twice rubbed of the healing scabs and so we're almost back at square one.
Joe Bagpuss is a sweet, chunky, auburn strawberry blond with white nose, tummy and socks, he has semi-long fur that does not seem to matt. He likes being stroked gently and really loves a head massage but hasn't quite allowed anyone to pick him up yet, though I'm sure cuddles will be within his tolerance soon. He's estimated to be between 4 and 7 years old so is a calm and chilled little guy.
Joe Bagpuss has been neutered and microchipped by Celia Hammond Animal Trust, is litter trained and clean in his habits, and really really needs a home where he can stretch out and not be shut in a pokey pen every night, all alone.
If anyone can offer Joe Bagpuss a home, even a foster placement until his wound heals properly, it would really help him to get his confidence back and settle to be a lovely gentle soul. Subject to homecheck, as always, but distances can be overcome for the right placement.
