I know the huge efforts you went to when Billy went missing, I followed his Facebook page, his website,  ached for your loss and thankfully rejoiced in your ultimate reunion. Billy really was the cat that made me think twice about so many things associated with the security, loss, search, retrieval...gosh you name it, Billy's  case raised that question, broached that topic.

Elle, you already know how sorry I am that Billy was taken to Rainbow Bridge in this dreadful way, Ibut I wanted to thank you and Billy for the legacy he has left in my heart. Without Billy I would almost certainly not be involved to this extent in cat rescue (and I think he may have had a paw in your rescue dealings, too) and think about the cats that have been saved because of him  I hope you can absorb this positive message albeit at a time of terrible sadness. Billy was an inspiration.

RIP Billy. X

On the 1st August 2015, my Billy came inside panting and drooling and in severe pain. I rushed him to the Vet and he'd been poisoned by something they can only tell me was very caustic. Bloods & all sorts of tests showed nothing except he was bleeding from his back passage and had a blue burn on his tongue. We made the decision to have him put to sleep after 3/4 hour of them trying to save him. The Vets said his digestive system was breaking down and disintegrating. The Vets said possibly weedkiller or some kind of cleaner (Jeyes fluid?)

 I have his ashes now.

I miss Billy so much and in this past year since he's been back home, he was such a character and despite having 4 cats still, he was the one that was always there around you and always a great companion. RIP my gorgeous Billy.

I've always been sceptical about microchips, even though all my cats are chipped. This wonderful thread restores my faith in them. I'm so glad you found him.

Will the vet pass on your details to the couple? I'm wondering if they might be willing to take on one of your rescue cats in Billy's place  :sneaky:

Thank you!

It's 2.5 years not 3.5 I thought he'd gone in 2010 and got my dates mixed up!

I did ask the vets if i could have the couples details but they wouldn't give them out (i suppose they can only if they've agreed) and they said they'd call them and tell them how grateful I am and to tell them thank you.

I got a phonecall today from vets4pets. They said have you lost a cat called Billy? I said YES! And she said well we have him here, he's been brought in. She sounded a bit sombre so I said "IS he dead?" and she said NO he's fine, in good condition. So I said can I come and get him now and she said yes! So I raced down to the surgery and they told me an elderly couple had been feeding him for 3 weeks in Sherwood which is a few miles from where he went missing. So I have no idea what has happened to him in the past 3.5 years!! He has a wound on his tail like a cat bite which I need to sort out but it doesn't look infected so I'll take him to get it checked out at my vets. He is now sleeping on the chair in the spare room so he can get accustomed to all the other cat smells etc as I now have 4 cats in the house for him to get used to!! His brother is one of them but they won't know that obviously!
