Misa seems to be the same as yesterday and has now eaten all his metacam.......takes about 3 goes!

I had never noticed before but he alwys stretches out the pinned leg when he is lying and now realizw he always sorta walks stiff legged, I knew for a big cat he always took small strides and doesnr tend to run.

He bunny hops upstairs and down , where as Sasa and Lupin run.

He is not going upstairs at present but hope he will again when he is ready as the the other two sleep un the bedroom and he used to.

I think you are wise to just go with the metacam for now. Giving too many things at the same time gives you no idea what is actually working, or isn't.
Yes and isn't it annoying when vets tell you one thing, like with the tablets being the most important, then changing their mind and totally forgetting what they have said before. Inspires a lot of faith. NOT.

Thank you Julie.

Have spoken to Gareth and he said that metacam is the most impoertant...........funny he told me the tabs were!

So to forget about tabs now and give metacam for a week to 10 days, Apparently some cats have it for life but he hopes Misa wont need to and if he does the dose will be reduced.

Told him I am not trying the joint supplement till finish the metacam and then will try but bthis is a life one.

Misa sleepin/lying around most of time but walking better and using tray so Gareth very pleased.

The claim form has been filled in as Suspected arthritis so Gareth thinks it will be fine.  I guess they will fight if Argos cause a problem.

He and the others wont touch primila Pav and neither would Ducha and Napoleon! I bought it specially for meds.......sigh

No not a good sleep for me think Misa slept Ok,

He has had about half metacam at moment so hoping he will come back and eat other half.

In the early hours he wanted to go out,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,no way Jose!

He has used the litter tray properly and seems to be finding that better.

Will try and speak to Gareth later cos today has been crap!

Think it was roughly fifty fifty. Mind you it was real butter in those days not the low fat stuff we eat now. (sigh)

We just softened it and mixed in marmite or husband says he has used Bovril.

Maybe see if he likes butter, and then add little marmite until its to his taste.   :innocent:

Good luck.

Thank you carol, I wonder if he would like marmite.

Only have to give these for a week but two a day.

He has had none yet....sigh but is doing well compared to the last few days.

How much marmite v butter was used?

Just an idea, but we had an old feral who was very very canny when it came to any medication when the 'tasteless' ones

We ended up mixing butter and marmite together with the medication really finely crushed mixed in a gave it as a treat from our fingers  (well my husbands fingers, as for a long time only he could touch him).

Lots of positive vibrations on their way and do hope you find a way to get his meds in him.

Carol

As said Misa doesnt do treats or anything he has to chew given by hand, often wont chew food.

He will not eat real tuna and have no doubt the same would apply to real pate!

He is just a real cat and eats cat food, sometimes he will lick butter off a plate but only occasionally!

I have used Pill pockets from Vetmeds  in the past and also cat sticks wrapped round the pill, mixed in cat milk, and human pate is very similar to cat pate and of course tuna in spring water hides a multitude of things - all have been well used here and even fools the ferals on my ongoing journey with them just have to note on the spreadsheet who had what and change it for the next tablet session

suppose the fact he was patched up meant someone cared about him once

Yes Dawn that is the main ingredient in the capsules I have been given. Does the dog have it all the time?

Yes a major shock but does answer question why he was always so reluctant to jump up or down, I had always put it down to him being so big but it was so much more than that.

do they recommend glucosamine for cats, I know people who give it to dogs? or maybe that is the supplement you mention, anyway I know someone who swears her dog go a new lease of life on it - must have been a huge shock for you to find all this out

Thank you sue  ;D

Yes I have just slept for 10 hrs straight!

My body is stiff and sore but Misa is moving easier has just urinated after a lot of plodding in two trays but just remembered GA will make it harder for him to do solids so when next out will get some condensed milk to make into a drink for him which should help.

Yes thank goodness for Gareth. He explains everything, asked me if I wanted to see xrays, is very patient with me and Misa.

Misa has had his metacam but not the bloomin pill cos of course he is not so hungry now.

Decided to put it in the half of the pate withought metacam cos dont want to put him of the metacam and put it in whole cos its so small but he hasnt touched that half. It doesnt seem to ne disolving so have left the food there hoping he will come back and eat the rest in his normal grazing way.

If he doesnt have it will have to try and break or crush! Just hoping it doesnt smell!

Gill, very pleased that Gareth was the one to see Misa - it's paid dividends in many respects, because now so much more makes sense with regard to Misa's past life.    When you call to speak to Gareth on Thursday, ask if he minds if you take notes as you go along, and write down what he tells you.  That way, Misa will get the very best benefit from his meds.  And try to get yourself some sleep.      Misa is eating, and he's in less pain, so for now, you can catch up on some rest.  Try, at least.  me and Da Boyz are sending much love for you and Mr Misaman.   :cat rub:

ummmmmmm afraid I gave him another dish!

he is not so hungry now but its serving to keep him getting up and go to the dish.

Hed has not left the front room yet and am hoping he will use the liyyer tray.

Right now cant think how to get tablet into him except by crushing but think I may not be able to as my hands arent very good. He has to have two a day!

He also needs to have metacam every 24 hrs and dont know if maybe tbey could be mixed in the same food, one in one half and the other in the other half .

the capsules may have to wait until the tabs are finished as they are huge so contents are big.  I also need to speak to Gareth about them as it seems as they are taken for life but sure thats not what he said. cant speak to him until Thursday as he is not in tomorrow.

Gotta go to bed now and try to sleep.

Time to take away the food bowls, Gill before he makes himself sick.

Leave him water only, by morning he will feel more himself and you may get the tablet down him more easily if he's hungry again.  :-:

Lupin and Sasa will have to go without for one night.  :shify:

I may have to ring the emergency vet again cos he just wants to eat and eat cos of the valium!

Good job I knewws about this from Napoleon.

Yes Sheila and he also hates all people except me too as does Sasa but yes once I go to bed I am going to be out¬

I am very pleased to know so when it flares up again, hopefully not for a long time, we will know the reason and you were also right about the injury cos there was one but not infected,

The next problem is getting him to eat his metacam and the other pill which is a human one, very small and wish he like something I could wrap it in rather than crush it, Its a powerful painkiller and may space him out Gareth said but he would only have it for a week and the matacam, The other thing is this joint supplement in a capsule that can be oped and put on food,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Gareth says it wont taste cos its made for cats

No problem Andrew , I started a thread for him so it would have wider audience, hoping someone may have a clue what was wrong with him.

Now the question is how much food! He has had 3 dishes of wet food and a dish of bisuits and keeps scuttling over to the dishes loong for more!! Mind you he hasnt eaten for nealt 24 hours too..............do you think he has had enough or may be one more?

He is so desperate he is eating the bits he pushed out of the dish.......sigh

Oh Gill what a rollercoaster. Poor Misa, no wonder he's terrified of the vet he's had some really serious surgery that he will associate with vets. Just like Theo who has similar repairs from his early years and hates the vet  :(

At least you now know, I'm glad Gareth got to see him and has given you some answers. You can both get some rest tonight, I do hope so anyway
