thanlyou all

i do want a kitten because i have a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old and i think if you he little ones its better to get a pet from small to grow with your family moomin and mango were both kittens when the anna was 2 and phoebe just born and the cats are excellent with the girls of course the girls have learned to give the cats space and respect
i love watching phoebe age 2 playing fetch with mango they have so much fun and she sleeps on phoebes bed

i have told the lady why i want a ragdoll , because it is a indoor friend to mango and will have the same laid back personallity but not the squashed face and possible brething problems , although a excellent breeder of persians has emailed me with litter news i am nowa little torn but think i have made the right decision although i am going to check them both out and possibly more
i am also thinking about showing my new kitten

i am going to go with a open mind and as the kittens are not born yet have time to think at home plus i can look at the babies she has at the moment and see how she cares for them ect

What wonderful news we only have one Chocolate Seale Point the Clan cats posh Totty Minmin and I would love a blue sort of tones in well with Minmin

Kelly Joy has a raggie and the UKRCC is a wonderful font of knowlege run by Helen and Darren and they rescue raggies and home them on to wonderful homes

Minmin was a rescue and has blossomed in to a lovely lady and her issues have now gone and I have my pedigree cat which I always wanted but with all the rescue ones never thought I would have one

Good luck and enjoy raggie cuddles they are wonderful :Luv:

How exciting!  ;D

Any tips on questions and checks would be gratefully recieved

FAB has some good advice.

http://www.fabcats.org/choosingapedigreekitten.html

GCCF also has guidance on choosing a kitten, which has pretty much the same advice as FAB

http://www.gccfcats.org/kitten.html

Make sure you everything about the breeder conforms to GCCF guidelines.  She should volunteer information about the kitten's pedigree and be able and willing to tell you all about raggies!  A good breeder will be enthusiastic about the breed and be happy to talk about raggies and her cats in particular to anyone who shows the slightest interest!  Also be prepared for her to question you about why you want one and about your home environment.  The house should be clean and all her cats (whether indoor or kept ouside in a cattery) should look healthy and be well socialised.  If anything at all seems not quite right be prepared to walk away, or at least look at other breeders too.  In fact, even if this breeder seems perfect it might be worth looking at the ragdoll cat club and seeing if there are kittens available near you and then going to see them.  That way you can compare breeders and set ups and see which one you prefer.

Another thing to bear in mind when you have existing cats, is the personality of the kitten.  When the kittens are born a good breeder will be able to tell which are going to grow up to be dominant cats and which less so, which will be big cats etc...  That kind of thing is important as you need to choose a kitten who you think will fit into your existing cat family best.  I'm glad I knew before I got Mosi that he was going to be a dominant cat and a large example of his breed otherwise I would have been in for a shock!  As it was, I knew he was going to be a bossy boots and a big boy but I also knew that Jaffa was a large cat and could probably cope with him.

Your run sounds great  ;D

Only thing that I can think of and probably pretty useless! I have a blue point birman and he is a much lighter colour of point than I expected. I have never seen a blue and a lilac point next to each other and sometimes wonder if he really is blue.......just a thought/concern  :shify:

i have been looking for a ragdoll blue colourpoint for some time now but am weary about picking a breeder as i have had a bad one with mango my persian

anyway today i rang someone who i had a long chat with who could not help me with a blue one but put me in toch with a very good breeder that she recommends , she also said that although she did not have a blue that i could have a cuddle with her adults and see the different colours and patters and look at her babies which i am going to do

also i rang the breeder she gave the details of and all her kittens are reserved but she has anouther litter due in 4 wk that are probably going to all be blue colourpoints and that i could go and have a look at the queen and the cattery , so i am really excited and going on sat afternoon when the kittens are born and there colour appears then i could reserve one then to bring home at the end of sept beginning oct

she does have other colours but i am going to hold out for the colour i really want , although when i go i know i will probably fall in love with one

i am going to make a list of questions and checks , wish me luck  :Luv:

oh and we are nearly there with our outdoor run which consists of a rendered bulding  with slate roof with heater, bed ,litter tray ,climbing frame and toys and outdoor run with climbing frame scratch post and loads of fresh air and flys to catch mangos going to love sharing it on nice days with her new friend and you never know moomin might even decide to join them

Any tips on questions and checks would be gratefully recieved
