Yes, I might still need it for Buffy. I managed to give Xander his pill no problem, I sat on him and used the pill popper and it worked like a dream.  :Applause:Unfortunately I've not got Buffy's down her after two unsuccessful attempts.

Our vet gave me a 'spot on' wormer for Alfie, might be worth considering in future for cats that are very difficult to pill.

I think the tablet needs to be given whole, as apparently they are very bitter under the coating.

Have people had success with giving it crushed up in food, or is it too strong a flavour and smell? If I use the pill popper is it ok to give them the tablet whole or should I try to do it in two lots?

Option 1 - give in webbox treat - failed as Xander wouldn't eat the webbox without the pill. So off now to get tuna.

I got a pill popper to try as a last resort. They are pretty big pills!

Well this has solved the problem of what to do on a rainy windy Sunday.

LOL.  I can manage 3 out of my 4, but Teddy spits tablets out in a very sneaky fashion!! I find wrapping it up in wafer thin ham works well as he just hoovers it up. X

Thanks guy, I've just been to pets at home and got Drontal tablets, just need to work out how to get it down their throats now.

I need to get it done asap as my sister and children are coming up tomorrow to stay. Although they have loads of animals so aren't squeamish about such things fortunately.  I want to get them done and sorted before they arrive.

Morrisons pharmacy sells Drontal, so I imagine Tesco & Sainsburys will also. X

I know they sell Drontal for cats from their online store.   Its a veterinary product that is subject to certain restrictions (as are all the wormers worth having) so the sale has to be supervised by a qualified person who will ask you lots of questions to make sure you're using it appropriately.  I'm not sure whether its available in their shops and even if it is they might not be able to sell it on a Sunday if their vet isn't in.
I can understand that you want to treat them as soon as possible but another day is unlikely to be critical if you would prefer to wait until your vet is open.

I've just found a worm where Xander was sitting, so need to go and get a wormer. Typical it's Sunday. I'm now going to have to get some sort of wormer. Do Pet at Home have any good wormers? I know Bob Martins are dangerous so don't wan to use them.

I haven't wormed them for about a year as didn't think they needed worming if they are inside cats. The vet didn't offer me a wormer when they had their jabs. My old vet always gave my other cats wormers at the same time as jabs but all my other cats where outdoorers.
