20 Leaping ferals, 15 domestics and a ragdoll - 2 ba da beams and Mummys laser pen from her trainer days keeps ours fit and healthy and some of the ferals are having the kitten hood they missed

Wouldn't worry about the eye thing just keep it moving and theya re fine - our oldest at 15 has been playing with my pointer laser for 15 years and still loves it but we have to make sure the kids are playing inaother room or she gets shirty and land a well aimed paw!!! :Luv:

Mine love theirs - it's shaped like a mouse and thr batteries last for ages. I bought my mum onr from ebay thst has ifferent attachments but its rubbish. The batteries run out in no time and the battery cover came off. Its a pain having to hold the button down but its probably a safety thing they all have to have.

The one from PAH has all the different shapes but I must say Sam only likes the bog standard red dot light as it is a more intense light for him to chase.  I have just got new batteries for mine because we play with it so much  ;D

Oh bless them - more gorgeous pics  :Luv: and I'm glad they're having fun with the laser pen  ;D I bought one from PAH for Mosi but it's pretty rubbish - weak light and it hurts my finger having to keep the on button pressed down!  He does the ba da beam though which has a much stronger light.

The think the laser toys that you get for cats are safe, it's the actual laser pens you have to be careful with.

I got one from pah and it was rubbish :(  After a shorrt while I couldn't get the batteries to stay in properly, and now it barely shines at all.  Maybe I got a dud?  My three love it tho, keeps them amused indefinitely!  ;D

I can't guarantee the safety of the ones I recommended but I would say that as long as you are sensible and don't shine it into their eyes the pens are fine.

I ordered one through a local petshop last week, but didn't get chance to go and see if they had got it. If not, I shall have to go back to the £1 shop, that is where the others have come from - but they do break quickly, I have gone through a few of them now!!

I've never bought my manic oldies one because of the concern about the laser. Luckily, they'll chase any old torchlight before they set upon each other and have a session chasing round the house. They still think they're kitties at 17 and 20; (must have a think when I took them on and check their estimated ages).
Are there types of laser pen which are safer than others? If so, I might try to get one. Unfortunately, with my two, it's almost inevitable that they'll look at me when we're playing, and get the light in their eyes.
Cats were once gods; they have never forgotten this, nor have the people they own.

Mmmmm, I seem to recall you pipped me and Mark at the post for the Laser Helen  :P. I suppose I can forgive you now that it is being used for the babes though  ;D.

I did try a local pet shop for one at Christmas. Initially they said that they had been advised to stop selling them as they could be dangerous if shone directly in cats eyes.  I said that I thought you could get laser pens that are safer (shine shapes with very  low power?). Despite promises he never did come up with the goods. Can someone remind me which are the "safe" ones and whether the ebay link from Sam are those as would really like to get a laser for our Billy and Freddie (even Tom for when he has a 17 1/2 year old mad moment lol)

hehe, too cute!!!! reckon youre gonna be panic buying the batteries in desperation og wearing them out!!!!!!!  jaspers a fan of the laser pen too, it is so funny to wathc. i love putting it on the floor, then turing it off when he puts his paw on it... he acutually like looks underneath!!! hehe. hours of fun!!!!!!!

was thinking i was going to have to have a go at you for not giving up pictures for at least 2 days!!!!!   glad youre having fun!!!  ;D

Luckily it came with 3 spare batteries!  It also has a really bright normal light on it which is perfect for retrieving the lost balls/mice from under the sofa  ;D  I was doing the turn it off when it was under Lukey's paw too, he looked really confused   At the end of the game I finished the laser off on top of a mousey so they think they have achieved something, don't want to mess with their minds  ;D

I won Tiggy a laser pen in the Xmas auction, she wasn't overly impressed and just looked vaguely in the direction of the spot, in her defence she was 18  :)  I just got it out for the boys and almost wet myself laughing, it was SO much fun!  They went mental for it, I thought I'd seen them at top speed when they were chasing each other but they were so fast you couldn't even make out who was who!

Last night was a bad night for me as they were awake playing on my bed/face/shelves/down the side of the bed/chewing wires until around 2:30 am and then up again by about 7:30 am.  Tonight we will have another long laser pen session before bed  :evillaugh:

Here's a lovely pic I took of them this afternooon pre-laser pen, they are unconscious now  :evillaugh:  In the second one they are both fast asleep, Riley was in mid bite of Lucas' foot, it all got a bit much for him and he fell asleep  :Luv:
