Great news for Master Wordy ;D

Inca and Maverick send purrs and hisses and say they were crunching biscuits after their dentals last Friday and are now both fine ;D

Thank you Gill, the vet was pleased with him, he was a good boy, not scratching the vet, but I got a chunk out of my arm trying to get him in the carrier to go to vets, he must have thought he was being left again.

We collected Wordy about an hour ago, he is prancing around like nothings happened. Will take it one step at a time, he was a good boy on the way home, and was rubbing against my fingers through the carrier door.

Poppy has given him a couple of kisses, and had a good sniff, but Charlie hid as soon as he saw the carrier.

Soooo pleased to have my boy home, he is a little cat with a big purrsonality.

We went to see Wordy, he was sleepy but doing ok, has a little bit of a temperature, i took him in a blanket that he sleeps on, we had a little cuddle and kiss, and the nurse said he seemed calmer now he'd seen his Mummy.
Gill I will give him extra cuddles when he comes home.  :)
He had a runny bum when they put him under anaesthetic, her words were he exploded!!! Stress related I expect.

Home tomorrow morning hopefully.

Thanks Nicky

Glad Master Wordy is ok and visiting won't do any harm and may be take him in a treat, mine love catmilk when they are having a stayover at the vet and its easy to lap and not sore on the mouth

Have to say I visit cats and dogs from the Clan at the vet and it helps reassure them that you know where they are and the our vets say they are so much happier after Mummy has been as we take the cat from the pen and hand feed if necessary and generally tell them how special they are and we get to take the dogs for a quick walk and then back in for that special treat and then they usually sleep so not sure where you comment comes from

Our vets encourage owners to visit but a difffering times if they are really busy - I usually do the 8pm visit when the oncall vet is getting ready for their evening

I hope he can come  home soon   I think vets have to weigh up the benefits and risks of keeping cats in v them coming home.  When I took Jaffa to the vet with cystitis a few years ago she was going to keep him in overnight until the vet nurse arrived, recognised Jaffa immediately and knew staying there overnight would stress him too much and be counter productive, so he was allowed home.

Thank you Gill, I will get myself over there then, I knew someone would know whats good for them.

I can't stand the thought of him not getting his cuddles. I remember when Lesley posted about him when he went in for the snip that he just wanted cuddling.

I'm going to ring soon, i hope  can nip in to see him, but don't want to upset him by coming back out again. Its weird because we've only had him since last october, but the other 2 are sleeping and not interested in eating, even though they've been waking me up since 3.30 for breakfast.

They do love him really, Charlie will have to go back to chasing himself for a few days.

Poppy was mega cuddly this morning after Pete took Wordy to the vets. She wouldn't leave me alone(not that I'm complaining).

I am far to soft with them.lol

He is such a precious special little lad.

The vets know whats right for the individual cat, so mostly we have to go with what they say.

Thankyou for your comments.

So glad it went ok, and I hope hes back home soon!

Ours might need an extraction & dental soon, but we are waiting to level her out for her other issues first, so I've sort of been stalking your thread to see how you got on. :/

I'm a bit nervous about the whole idea, as shes a tiny little old lady, and even the vets seem a bit reluctant to advise that she has to have it done, even though they have looked at her mouth and dont think its looking good  :-:

Wordy is now in recovery after having all but the 2 lower canines removed. He has had an antibiotic injection and a 24 pain killer jab as well, I will ring later to see how he is.

It is very quiet here without him, I had to pack away my own shopping without my little helper climbing into the fridge.

We will be picking him up tomorrow morning.

Wordy is off to the vets on Wednesday morning for his teeth and gums to be sorted. My little gummy bear will stay in overnight, hopefully they will let me go and see him when he is up to visitors. I will miss his cuddles and smoochies at night time.

Thankyou.

Wordy is about 18months, the vet said sometimes the cats are allergic to their own plaque. Amongst other things.

He eats biscuits and wet food, and anything he can steal of our plates!

He has always been well loved all the time I've known of him, but don't know about the 1st months of his life.

Fortunately we have Dreamies in stock in the treat tin.  :)

They are mainly used for getting the cats to come in.

Mum in law has seen him today and says he seems more perky, god help us he is all over the place as it is.

When Oscar came to me 12 months ago he needed 6 teeth removed and the vet etimated that he was aged between 5 and 7 years old  He is fine now and eats wet and dry food with no problems  I am sure your kitty will be fine if not your bank bala

Oh the poor wee soul sadly its sometimes due to their backgrounds that this happens we have a couple of ferals with no teeth fairly young ones at 8 and after the teeth removal they are crunching biscuits like they have never seen them

Hoping the withdrawal of treats isn't going on for to long

Bad gums and teeth.
« Reply #1 on: March 30, 2012, 10:19:01 AM »
Little Wordy has very sore gums and has lost some teeth. It has gotten worse even though we are using the liquid stuff in his mouth.

Took him back to the vets yesterday and she thinks he will need his teeth out, all except canines. Hopefully we can get the insurance to pay up but unlikely.

Cost aprox £700. Cats pocket money for toys and dreamies now suspended.  :)

He has Metacam and Antirobes. Vet was suprised he is such a happy active little fella, as his glands are up as well.

I have been taking him to be checked, but its gotten worse for him. His breath is 'mingy' vets word not mine, I of course think he smells of roses.

He coat is lovely and clean, which probably means one of the others is giving him a sneaky wash and brush up.

Whatever the cost he is my little snuggler and will get the treatment that he deserves, he gives us so much love and is worth every penny.

Nicky
