Teddy, my tabby thug has suffered from poorly tail a few times now. Generally it is back to normal in 2-3 days and is accompanied by scratches where he has been fighting with the fat tabby from up the street!

Thanks everyone, i've booked him in to see the vets on Thursday, although it seems to be slightly better this evening and not quite as floppy.

I'll report back and let you know how we get on!  :naughty:

I would be off to the vets having been through 2 tail amputations because tails came in limp = one had been hit by a car and the other went in a snare also have Monty former feral kitten who has a broken tail - happened before we trapped him and we have to keep an eye on it because the blood supply to the tail could become affected if he hurts his tail again

Also limp tails can be cause by an abcess and when that bursts it is horrible and a hard place to keep clean and can result in the dreaded head trumpet and a lot of antibiotic tablets

I would agree reference injury and thats why I said to leave because he would be in pain if he had an abcess and with tales unless an abcess there is nothing that can be done except to amputate  as far as I know.

If its not causing a problem than purrrrrrrsonally wouldnt want to go this route but it will need an eye keeping on it.

Why would you be more worried if it was limp?

Because limpness would sounds like an involuntary action due to injury or unknown cause, in my scenario the tail had full movement but they chose to keep it tucked up against the body.

Is it limp or is it that he has pulled it tight towards his bum? I'd be more worried if it was limp  :shy: Can't remember which one it was but when one of my boys had a sore bottom (ie diarrhoea) they whipped their tail right in to their bum and wouldn't lift it up, I presume trying to 'protect' the sore part.

Hmmmmmmm thats strange.

However my purrrrrrsonal opinion is that if he can use the tray , is not in pain or having any other problems, I would leave it.

Hi all, does anyone have experience of their furry's tail going limp? (no viagra jokes please  :P)
Merlin seems fine in himself, but his tail has gone floppy, and dosn't stand up. He dosn't seem to be in any pain and is eating, drinking, pooiing as normal. Not sure whether i should wait a couple of days to see how it goes or take him to the vets tomo?

Any advice much appreciated  :briggin:
