Asked the vet about it at their vaccinations today, he wasn't at all concerned and said it would be very unlikely - phew!

awwww Helen dont worry ,ur babies will be fine
there would only be a bit of a risk if ur mates cat was full of the cat flu ,
whats all this about kali might not be a icckle girl ? she looks so femme  :Luv: :Luv:
its tricky looking at there bits and being able to tell 100percent when they r little isnt it
when one of mine were kittens i kept having second thoughts about what sex she was for a day or two but then the vet confirmed she was defo a icckle girly  :Luv:

Sorry Rosella  :shy:  It's just me being ultra paranoid, I just texted her asking about her cats recent history and got this back...  The little ones don't seem to have picked up on my vibes - they are sparko at the top of their cat tree  :Luv:

"No probs H.  Was at the vets 3 weeks ago and got OK.  Showing no signs and hasn't 4 months.  I just had a shower and fresh clothes on within 1 hour of seeing you.  Would not have come round if I was a risk I promise."

Will still mention it to the vet tomorrow though, hopefully he will put my mind at rest too.

really !!!!!!!

She looks so girly to me LOL.

I guess you better get the vet to have a look at that tomorrow aswell  ;D

The best way is to try and hold the two together and compare, there really ought to be obvious difference if they are one of each.

Thanks Lynn & Christine, as far as I'm aware her cat doesn't show any symptoms at all now - she was definitely vaccinated against it aswell.  She goes to the same vets as me so they will be able to look at her records, I just got a bit panicky for a minute there!  Thinking about it I suppose that her cat can't be that infectious otherwise every cat who has had cat flu should be kept in.  Will definitely tell the vet about it though.

Also I'm not sure Kali is a girl!  I've looked at her 'bits' and they are quite pronounced and sticky out, looking at her face I'd say she is 100% girl but I've tried to compare her bits to guides online and she doesn't look like either!

If your chum's puddy was recovering five months ago and has since been vaccinated, I'm sure your vet will be able to give you complete reassurance tomorrow.

Providing her cat isnt virulent full of flu at the moment and has since been vacc etc etc i think the risks would be quite negligable.  If her cat was full of it and had lots of its bugs on her and her clothes perhaps the risk would be higher.

Quote
The disease is transmitted from cat to cat by direct contact with infected discharge from the eyes, nose, mouth, by contaminated litter pans, water bowls and human hands- and rarely by airborne droplets. The virus is stable outside the host for as short as 24 hours or as long as 10 days

I'm sure the vet will be able to give you more specific risk % tomorrow but i think your babes will be fine.

A friend from work popped over to see the kittens this afternoon, it has just occured to me that her cat had cat flu as a kitten and I'm really worried now.  She got the cat from the RSPCA around 5 months ago.  The cat was around 6 months old when they got her and she still had a runny nose at that time.  She has since been vaccinated against cat flu.

Kali and Riley have an appointment tomorrow to be vaccinated but I'm worried I may have exposed them to it already - it just didn't occur to me.  Is it possible that they could have been infected?  She only held them for around a minute each.
