Only just seen this and yes they certainly can pretend for attention.  Years ago my OH accidentally stood on Ginger's paw while on the landing and she wailed and  limped around and he was mortified.  She then came downstairs quite normally and was bounding around like a looney until he came back downstairs when the limp and the pitiful look returned.  :evillaugh:

Same happened to me a couple of weeks ago with the Ginger Terror. Came in crying in pain and his back end giving way because it seemed to hurt to put his foot down....rush him to the vets, whereupon he proceeds to prance around the room like there's nothing at all wrong.  :tired:

Arent cats funny, offended when there is a newcomer and then offended when seperated from them  :innocent:

I hope both get totally back to normal and wish my Sasa would, she has just gone out in the drizzle again......sigh

Well of course they are.... they're cats!!   :evillaugh:  I got relegated from my usual spot on the sofa last night after Mac decided it was his spot, and he wasn't budging.  And like the fool I am, I went and sat on the little sofa in the chilly bit of the room.   :-:

oh Gill ..Georgia actually seemed to be showing off at vets- I presume it must have just recovered as shes fine now, last night she had to be hand fed biscuits by daughter as she was so ill :innocent:
I really think shes sulking because of Mo, Miyagi has been like it too, oddly hough its since Mo was moved from downstairs to top floor bathroom, before they had seen mo from a distance and liked peeking around door at her but due to the infection risk mo;s been isolated and the other two have gone a bit insane. Miyagi has taken to sleeping on my bed, like hes glued to it so think they may feel a bit neglected.
thankfully both are now back in front room, miyagi with his paws in ohs flipflops as usual and Georgia is sneeky cat stealth mode  :shy:
it was probably just a sprain in her paw i guess :innocent:
anyhow thankfully the vet only charged a tenner for the outing :shy:

Actually, I think Gill's hit the nail on the head.  I don't think it's so much that cats care good at feigning illness, more that they're good at hiding it in potentially life threatening situations.  A cat in the wild which shows signs of illness will be vulnerable, so they've become adept at hiding it.   Maybe because Georgia is relaxed with you, she can show you her paw is poorly, but the vet is a different kettle of fish, and so she has to pretend all is well - "see how fast I run?"  :-:

Or maybe, they really were both just a tad jealous of the attention Mo's been getting, so decided to be a bit foxy and pull the "poorly paw" trick  ;)  :evillaugh:

How embarrassing. I know dogs can fake illness, we had a jack russell who often pretended to have a sore back foot when she was getting told off.

Can't imagine cats doing it though, they tend to hide illness.

I suggest however that you take the cost of the vet visit out of Georgia's pocket money and she may think twice before acting up again!

I have just returned from vets because Georgia has been limping ..i touched her paw before she went and she was grwling , we get into vets and she starts running around like a nutter, trys to hide in a gap under a cupboard...vet examines paws, no yelps or growls :innocent: and the limp has miraculously vanished
now whilst i am happy georgia is ok....i suspect some drama has been in play, is this possible
