Please consider the harder to home cats in rescue.

We picked up Dorothy on Saturday and she is gorgeous.  :Luv: She is a tiny adult cat and very gentle and tolerant. She must have been brought up with lots of children and noise as she is unphased by our crazy household! :wow: Keep up all your good work. Thanks Jessica

Just to let you all know - I am going to see a little cat at the weekend and hopefully give her a home. She is currently being fostered through pound kitten rescue and seems lovely  :thanks:

I agree. I've always had animals when I grew up and I think you develop such a special relationship with them that is great for the kids.  :Luv2:
I have given my names to two local ones on the catchat site a few weeks back and I'm keeping an eye on their sites. I've also been looking out on the petsforhomes sites and local adverts for direct adoption. I'm in no great rush as I want to wait for the right cat for us.

 :welcome: to Purrs

I know you said you'd been in touch with some rescues but there might be some you're not aware of on this link http://www.catchat.org/adoption/dorset.html

I hope you don't find the age of your youngest child a barrier, I think it does kids the world of good to grow up with animals, it teaches them so much and they develop such lovely bonds  :)

we can always do a "train", where we each do part of the journey to get the cats to their new home ;)

Thanks Gill, I've just double checked but everything seems to be much further North.

Hello,
We are looking to rehome a young cat or older kitten. I have 3 children aged 3, 6 and 8. Our elderly cat died in December and we would like to get a new furry friend. We thought a young cat would be best as it would be able to get used to our noisy house and the children would bond with him or her better. I have been in contact with a couple of shelters but no-one has any young cats here at the moment. I haven't contacted the cats protection yet as I wasn't sure if they'd be keen to rehome to a family with a 3 year old but this will be my next step. We don't have any other pets -except for the guinea pigs :) We have a garden and a cat flap ;D.
many thanks,
Jessica
