I am in a bit of a tizz over this, but was hoping for some opinions...
Fred, Ginger and Benji it seems have come down with a stomach bug/virus. Benji is FIV+ and had a dental on Tuesday so is not at his strongest anyway. Fred and Ginger came down with stomach problems first, while Benji was at the vet on Tuesday for his op, and obviously since coming home, Benji has it too. I initially thought it was just that they had eaten something they shouldn't have, as with the kittens that is what they do, but they have been unable to keep any food down since Tuesday, so it is obviously something more...
Coincidentally I popped into the RSPCA cattery where I volunteer today and guess what? the cats there have come down with a stomach bug/virus. I was not told about this when I went there on Monday and seeing as all mine are indoors only and the symptoms are exactly the same it is highly likely I brought it home with me. I am taking all of my lot to the vets later on for some antibiotics and whatnot but have been tearing my hair out trying to figure out what is wrong with them all, thinking it must be something they ate, as they don't go out so where would they pick up a tummy bug from? as I had not been told about there being a bug at the cattery, I didn't think of it coming from there...
Now I am left with some very poorly cats, I am feeling very guilty as I brought it home and am very annoyed with the cattery for not even sending out an e-mail to their volunteers letting them know, as well as more vets bills which, due to financial circumstances being well...down the toilet at the moment, I could really do without...
I am wondering if I should even go back to the cattery to volunteer? I consider Benji to be vulnerable to this sort of thing so would have appreciated a simple e-mail (they have all volunteers contact details/e-mails) so it would have been my decision to go in on Monday, and given the kittens history of illness, I consider them vulnerable too...
Would you go back to volunteering? or would you not return? If I do return I will feel I am risking the cats, but if I don't, then I will feel guilty about quitting.....
sorry this has turned into a bit of a rambling post, has been a long few days
