I've been hearing that they are taking a long time to sort out claims. Under 7 weeks seems to he unheard of at the moment.

A word of (hopefully helpful) advice Jen.  If you left message on answering machine requesting claim form, you will need to have correctly given ALL info requested including contract no (as opposed to policy number starting with A****).  Otherwise nothing will happen.  It's better to choose option 2 and speak to someone.  You stand a better chance of a claim form being issued.  I really would ring back.  Worse case scenario you will get two forms.

I am having probs atm with claim for Fred.  I handed in completed claim form to vet around 20 Feb.  It turned out vet was being inundated with claim forms and vet says it was finally posted to Axa on 18th March using Axa prepaid envelope.

I rang Axa for 2nd time this morning and their system still not showing claim having been received (now 29th).

Last week Axa said 7 working days turn around.  Today I'm told postal claims being worked through dated middle of February although for some reason would be d/w quicker if I got vet to resend via email or fax.   It's all very wearing .....

for Benji's renewal this year they had him down as unneutered, I phoned them and said that they hadn't grown back and could I have it changed please? the bloke on the phone was good humored about.
Benji's renewal went up a little bit but not much
have asked for a claim form (I think) for Benji's dental next week, fingers crossed it arrives, had to leave details on an answer machine? I think? I didn't really listen to the instructions as I was being climbed at the time by a naughty kitty, haha.

I have a folder split in 3 sections. 1 for Mig things, 1 for Molly things and 1 for Memphis things. I usually leave the policy details in the envelope (write the policy details on the front) and pop them in the appropriate little person's section. It keeps them extra safe and handy.

I also didn't get a claim form  Normally they pop at least one claims form in the envelope.

Oh, when I say bunged them together I mean they put both policies in the same envelope. So I've got 2 pages for Molly, 2 for Memphis, plus one page for important details and one policy booklet  :-:

My goodness they better not combine Misa and Sasas!

A fleet of carrier pigeons sounds far too expensive for this shower, maybe one poor pigeon doing all the journeys  :(

I don't like this company. I've been expecting the renewals for ages. Normally they come the start of March, not the end. Then I get this scary looking envelope, when I was expecting a nice happy one with AXA and the front  :evillaugh: Plus they've bunged Molly's and Memphis' policies together .. I like to keep them separate  :-:

They really are cutting costs as much as possible. Next year I'll be expecting a carrier pigeon.

I quereied about the neuter status last Oct Den and have had it changed, they say it doesnt affect the price but am sure it will soon!

One of probs with this company is they dont just work for AXA but for a number of comapnies and think they are using the same forms for all

I just got my renewals over the weekend.

They got the "Neuter Status" wrong on both my policies. I didn't claim anything over the last policy, and no vet visits with which I didn't claim. Memphis was £77.16 per year and is now £84.87 so (£7.07/month).

The most irritating thing is that I always pay yearly (I hate direct debits and avoid them if I can) but instead of having a form to fill in and send off I have to phone them to renew the policies   Just madness having to phone them to renew.

Oh and the excess is now £75 instead of £50  :tired:

Edit to add: I will be able to test categorically whether claim on policy = increased renewal price as the boys are identical in age/history except for the fact that I have just put a claim in for Riley so if his goes up more than Lu's at renewal then I will have proof. I know with car/home ins that is usually the case but supposedly not so with pet ins  :shify:

P.S you will have to wait until next April for this snippet of information I'm afraid  :evillaugh:

As promised, the outcome of my scientific study as to whether identical cats with different claim histories affect the renewal preimum.

Case study one: Lucas, 4 year old male cat, fluffy saggy belly, lives in the South-East, NO claims made. Previous £7.06, renewal £7.84 - an increase of 78p a month or 11%.

Case study two: Riley, 4 year old male cat, very annoying meow, lives in the South-East, three claims made for same condition. Previous £6.71, renewal £7.45 - an increase of 74p or 11%

NB - Riley's premium is less both this year and last year simply because he benefits from the 5% second cat discount so I can confirm that claims history seems to have no effect on renewal pricing.

Dragging up this one to the top again to give out the AXA 0800 number cos all my letters have Sainsburys number on, or national or 0845 numbers.

If you need to contact AXA use 0800 316 9036  :innocent:

If you happen to get a freepost envelope from them with a claim form pleaase can you give me the freepost number cos they wouldnt give it to me today!

My renewals should be here in another couple of weeks  :shify: :shify: and have claimed for Ducha, Frantas claims over feb to Oct last year did not affect his premium and Misa is same age as Freddie and at present the cheapest cat to insure. Sasa is 2 yrs older but her claims did not increase at that age point.

Sounds like this new shower are being inidated with calls, not suprisingly, and its gonna take them ages to sort things out.

Funny thing is that the person I spoke too back in August didnt tell me the company handling the claims had changed, only that they had moved offices!

Another claim will be going from my vets...........................hells bells just though the claim forms and address are going to be wrong......surely they must have a redirect on their post  :innocent: ................for Ducha on Wednesday cos vet is giving me two bottles of metacam for him due to the insurance renewing next month.

Why cant anything be straight forward.............sigh. Think I am going to play innocent and just give the vet an old form cos I now have a stack of them going back to when I couldnt get them to send me some when Franta was ill.

I just rang Axa.

They confirmed premiums are not increased in relation to claims for a specific animal.  At one point I was being told that the option I had chosen on website was for an excess £50 above the £50 I now have i.e. £100  I have the quote in front of me which clearly shows a £50 excess for veterinary fees.

The only reason they could give for difference between renewal and website quotes is that website quote is for a "new" policy.  1st twelve months cover always cheaper (I can only assume as less claims statistically as she offered no reason for this) especially as they do not provide cover for 1st 14 days.  I was not convinced and asked for that in writing.  She said she couldn't do that and reassured me that the conversation was being taped.  That didn't put my mind at rest  :naughty:

From the way the conversation went I suspect it is more to do with whether the systems (pre and post admin changes) have Freddie down as 8 yrs 11 mths or 9 yrs old at renewal.  Renewal docs state 8 yrs 11 mths but she was talking about his DOB being Sept 2001 which would mean he is now 9.  I got the distinct impression she was saying whatever came into her head.

She also assured me she had no discretion to give me a discount?!?!?!?  :-:

I've asked for a manager to ring me back which can take up to 3 days.

All I want is some assurance that their premiums are not going up by as much as 38% across the board and an explanation as to why Freddie's has.

When I queried Busters quote being nearly as high as the girls (he is 13, they are 17 and 20) I was told that males are more expensive to insure (I assume partly cos of fighting, partly cos of urinary issues). I'm still on the fence with claims putting it up, as I have claimed for both girls this year, one went up, one didn't - but one was after they changed - also, Molly's was one £205 claim, Zi's was three claims totalling more than Molly's (Can't remember the first cheque, but the last two were £98 and £78 - the first also had my excess), so maybe it is number of claims as well as amount of claims?

Isn't 9 the cut-off for most other insurance companies to change excess from a flat rate £50 to 35% of the claim? If 9 is the 'magic number' so to speak then perhaps that explains the increase as with Axa the excess doesn't rise?

That's what I thought the 38% increase was all about Helen but doesn't explain the difference between renewal and online quote.

As an aside ..... Don't ya just hate it when a furbabe tries to setle on your lap just as you gotta get up?  :(  Sorry Ruby .....

A weird thing.  I just put through a new quote on Axa website with all Freddie's details and it's coming up with £9.59 per month when renewal is saying £11.11  :-:

Does this then mean that the difference is due to the fact that we have claimed on his policy as I can think of no other reason?  I'll ring them when I'm feeling nice and chilled due to the delay in them answering the phone.  It doesn't help that the music they play while you wait is pretty awful  :innocent:

Keep an eye open for the "whether neutered or not" on renewal documents as Freddie came up with un neutered following transfer of info to new admin people.  For some reason this didn't affect new premium which had increased 38% from £8 to £11per month.  It may affect females more; who knows?

When I queried increase I discovered error re Freddie's neutering status but could only assume increase due to Freddie's age going from almost 8 to almost 9 years old as they wouldn't be specific on the telephone.  Good luck trying to get through on the telephone if you have to....
