The dog does actually cost me a heck of a lot more than the cat though - I can get the logic in that at least partially, cat's relatively economic to run, the dog's a furry slobbering money pit (wouldn't be without either of them though).

we all know vets fees have soared in the past few years - things like boosters (and neutering) remain dairly static.
Just look at how much insurance premiums have increased over the last few years.

This just crazy and why atre cats, which are now the most owned so badly treated and dogs showing up and not cats.
Have to say the play around with these indices all the time becuase they can manipulate them to suit themselves.
Statstics are just something to produce any answer they want................lies damn lies etc

I'm sure you've all heard today how internet dating fees are now being added to the shopping basket that determines inflation rates. In reading about this I have come across the bits they add in for animal care -
Pet Care
Cat and dog food – moist and dry
Small pet – eg hamster
Dog kennel boarding fees
Animal cage
Animal booster injection (this is supposed to reflect the cost of vets fees!)
What nonsense - I'm off to complain (once I find out where!)
