You were quite right Sam, When I got up this morning the food had disappeared and she had used the tray.  :thanks:
I have had a quick cuddle of her and found a couple of bite wounds on her neck, they are scabbing over and look clean - definately no sign of infection so I have popped some cream on, I'm not sure if I should bother Jacky (the Cats protection co-ordinator) with this, what do you think?
Thanks again all, its good to have some support on here, therewise i'd be driving Jacky mad with constant phone calls!

Ahh bless her ...I'm sure she will settle soon enough.  Most new kitties don't tend to eat much on the first day, but I'm sure once everyone has gone to bed she will use her tray and have something to eat and drink.

She is a sweetie, I hope she settles in soon as apart from licking some cream off my fingers she hasn't eaten or drunk anything since she arrived which is a worry. She seems quite happy if a little shy and has been purring. She seems very big and I can also feel her babies moving around so i'm thinking she may be further along than we thought.
 :thanks: for the warm welcome.
Lorna.

Yes, it is Jackie that brought Socks to us.
It's good to know that I can ask for advice over the coming weeks if needed, I'm sure I will be needing it!

Hi and  :welcome: to Purrs

Socks is lovely -you will soon have your hands full !

Was it Jackie that came round ?

I used to live in Altrincham and got a cat from Stockport Cat Protection in 1998 - Sophie a blue persian ,she was 4-5 years old then and now coming up to 17-18 years old.

I still keep in touch with Jackie too.

 :welcome: to Purrs   ;D

Glad you've found us, I'm sure you'll enjoy it here.  It really is a very friendly forum with lots of friendly helpful advice, if ever needed, and of course lots of fun.

I do feel it my public duty to warn you though that it can be a teensy bit addictive  You have been warned  :evillaugh:

Sorry to hear about your loss, I hope Socks can help fill that cat-shaped hole  She's beautiful btw  :Luv2:

Socks has just arrived! and what a pretty girl she is  :Luv2:
The lady from Cats protection thinks she has about 3 weeks to go. So far she is being very quiet but is very calm and placid, which is a relief as she has been through a lot I thought she might be distressed.
Here she is:

I'm sure you will have a great time here.  Sorry to hear of your loss ... but as you say 21 is a fabulous age.

I bet you can't wait to get your foster girl .. do you know when the kittens are due?

Hi everyone, :new here:
I have just joined the forum and have been having a browse around this morning. At the moment I am waiting exitedly for the Cats Protection Co-ordinator to bring me my first rescue, a pregnant 'queen' for fostering. I know absolutely nothing about her (apart from the pregnant part that is!).

I have kept Cats for 25 years but since our last cat died last august I have been really missing having a cat around.
Our first cat was 'Dusty' who we adopted when we were living in Israel, we fell for her in a big way and ended up bringing her home and having her quarantined. Her two daughters Teycha and Schmoney were born in my bedroom wardrobe in 1989 and both lived very long and happy lives, we lost our last girl back in August at the grand old age of almost 21 years so I guess I didn't do too bad a job considering how long they lived!

I can't wait to meet our new girl this afternoon!
