I have to say that some vets don't give good advice on wormers, one of our locum vets gave me stronghold for Ginger, and I Wasn't told that he would need an extra wormer as well.

Our ticks are wrapped, squished and then flushed for good measure!!!!

ive never had a tick in any of my animals till this weekend when i spied on on logans foot between his toes, actually right on the scar line where he had a toe amputated, i had the lovely job of getting the horrible thing out...wrapping it in kitchen roll then splatting it

Program also does Ticks as well and we are Flea free and have been for 8 years by using it and its great for ticks although when they fall off the ferals they are grey and solid but no wounds. Deffo a worming part as well it lasts 6 months

Can prove it lasts 6 months after the breakout last year 2 of the girls Diva and Clio were 2 months overdue by the time they deigned to go in the trap and despite it being the height of the tick season neither lady had fleas or ticks but both had tape worm so it works for ours.

I would have thought its the same as other wormers, doesnt stay in the body so you repeat as you see fit. (3 months if your me or 1 month if your Desleys vet lol)

i didnt know that about program either, yes ela that is what it was but perhaps they are combining it now.

I looked up droncit inj data sheets but it doesnt say about the frequency.

There is also a "wormer" in the Program injection now but we are over zealous and they get injection, profender for Ace and Sailor - shredded hands for Robin and either Millibex or drontal as well

you can also get spot on droncit ... i also thought the droncit injection didnt last as long as previously stated so away to look it up now. (ps droncit inj has been on the go for as long as i can remember and i'd also say it would work within the 24-48 period aswell)

Oh yes i agree with u
when i got Bailey and Bridie as kittens the vet i saw said i only needed stronghold for worms and fleas but i said im sorry but id feel happier having the strong hold and panacur paste
and then when they were old enough they had the drontal tablet .

Often you get people who just do stronghold and didnt know about tapeworm.

Ahhh i thought it may be that, Droncit only covers tapeworm so you should still worm for roundworm regularly aswell, especially if they hunt.
Roundworm can be blasted with a flea treatment such as Advocate or Stronghold if you cant do the tablet route.

Spoke to the nurse at the vets. The injection is DRONCIT and it lasts 3-6months.

my molly is the sort of cat that may bennifet from the worming injection because she will not take her tablet without attacking me quite bad lol
although the spot on wormer is good for cats who wont take the tablet

We have ferals injected for worms while under anaesthetic for whatever reason. Also I know some people have 'robust' cats injected.

As Gill says, please do ask the vet and let us know, have never heard of this, my vet didnt mention it when I was asking her about worming last week.

Hi Gill. I don't really know much about it. I tried to give him Drontal without any success ie couldn't get it down him so rang my vet and asked him would he do it for me. He said he would and also said he could give him an injection instead so that's what we did. The vets was really busy and I was in a rush so didn't really think to ask him anything about it.

Has anyone's cat had this? Mine had it tonight and I forgot to ask my vet how long it takes to take effect? Do any of you wonderful knowledgeable folk know? If not, I can always ring the vet tomorrow
