Anyone successfuly dealt with a cat with torovirus?

Torovirus isnt serious and usually just clears up on its own without antibiotics, antibiotics may well be making it worse, probiotics like Gill mentioned would be a good idea to try. I wonder if they've tested for tritrichomonas? http://www.fabcats.org/breeders/infosheets/tritrichomonas.html

I would have considered this as well, especially with the age of the cat.  Doodle has always had a bit of a runny tum, very much like my Tarka did, although Tarka was tested for everything and nothing was ever diagnosed,  but , Doodle has been clean for the last couple of weeks.  I wonder if he had T foetus, as he is only about a year now.

I know nothing about this virus cept what Mark has posted and mention of upset tummy.

Just a thought but if the cat has been on so many abs, could it be a case for long term lacto b to try and sort tummy out, lacto b will not harm it or make anything worse as its just a probiotic powder to mix in food.

That is what i thought Julie but the lady rang me yesterday.. CCS did get the cat seen to by Bartons and they diagnosed this virus and said it was not a severe case and upped the a botics.. The lday took the cat home (CCS paid fhte vets bill) but it got ill again yesterday and she wanted us to take it.. CCS are closed for in cats, I did speak to Norma and apparently this lady was aware that all CCS could do was to treat and see if they could get to bottom of the cats problems.. This lady is difficult to deal with all she wants is to get the cat moved on or PTS... She just does not want it anymore... I do not know if the cat was BT for this but apparently it was a dead ringer for this Torovirus... all 3 vets agreed.. Without going back to MD and Bartons not sure how much investigation they have done.. But BT for routine stuff has been done..The cat obv caught this from him mum at birth..

I thought this case was being dealt with by CCS? We offered a place before but CCS had taken this cat on. 

I reckon he needs testing for corona virus.

Apparently this cat (male n) has had it from young age. He has constant upset tummy and has been seen by 2 vets.. The last one confirmed what the first vet said and he has been on a botics for long time.. but nothing clears it up.. Cat is only 10m old and they are threatening to pts, as it cannot be controlled long term and its costs to much for them.. The owner is stupid!! and this cat came from dubious sources.. She cannot cope with his issues, he as at Bartsons for 4 days.. FIV,FELV BT done and neg... He did clear up but then started again..Seems as though from  history of this cat it has had it for some time...She just wants rid of him now..

Have they confirmed Torovirus with a blood test?

It also says it is much milder than coronavirus and doesn't lead to anything nastier. Secondary infections are possible and can be treated with ABs - so basically it sounds like a mild flu-type virus.

Just a enquiry as we have on our books a cat with this condition but as yet are not sure what the future holds for him.. He is not in our care... 10 months old and has had this for a long time... Only diagnosed recently and has been on a botics etc but nothing is working... He is neutered.. owner is abit stupis to say the least!
