OH is now taken with Bojangles http://www.ncac.cats.org.uk/index.asp?m=gallery&id=3&p=5

I said that I'm not sure Kylie will be happy about another cat around. OH agrees it needs some thought. I said I would happily home another cat but I don't want to make Kylie miserable in the process.

ETA - I phoned to get some info. Not really a good idea if we decide to stop Alice's vacs. Also, she said unless all the cats are on a sensitivity diet, it isn't a good idea as he is quite greedy and will eat whatever he can get his paws on.

DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

I am doing nothing. If OH wants another cat, he will have to do the legwork  :evillaugh: (at least initially, as it will be me doing all the other stuff once it is here  :tired:  :evillaugh: )

My two kittens ( 7  months and 12 weeks ) are Birman x....and so far are proving to be an absolute delight. They are 'fuzzy' rather than long haired and the silky coat seems to need no extra grooming. They are both very sweet, sociable cats and a joy to have around. I am feeding mainly home made raw and they are thriving....the vet cannot believe the size and musculature of the youngest!

If he has a liking for blue eyed cats maybe he might consider a Raggie??? They are much more laid back than Birmans as a rule. Kelly -Joy would be the lady to help you with that....................... ;) :evillaugh:

OH was looking at the CP sites again last night. I am keeping quiet   :shify:

The funny thing is, he called me over to look at a "lovely cat" ........"look at her blue eyes" ..........can you see where this is going?
Yes, it was a female Birman  :evillaugh:
Not sure which branch she was at as OH was looking at all the Southeast CP sites.

Agree with Kirst and a birman would not be happy living like that as they want to be the sole attention seeker LOL, even when you have two and they are litter brothers.........sigh

Alice needs so much attention and howls if she doesn't know where I am. Any new cat would have to stay in the attic as Alice did. As it is, I try to split myself between Kylie & Alice. Kylie gets jealous but won't stay in the same room as Alice

I a torn really - it was OH that wanted another cat and seems to have gone quiet on the subject so I will let sleeping cats lie. I hope the Birman gets sorted but tbh, isn't my kind of cat. I'm sure I would love if but wouldn't have a long haired cat by choice.

I personally think you should stick with two for a while Mark, and get your college work and health sorted.

Not sure what is going to happen. Now OH is saying "should we really get another cat?"  :-: - tbh, I would do it and manage, but at the same time, with all my college work (which is way behind) and problems with my stomach & back, I'm maybe not as thrilled as I should be about the prospect of taking care of another cat.

It wasn't my idea to get another one, but it seemed OH was really set on it. I'm not going to push the issue and whatever happens, happens.

Beavis needs the occasional brush but more for looks than knots , Oscar was much the same. I echo what Gill said - the polite way to put it is 'High Maintenance' - Beavis isn't known as Mr Whingey-claws for no reason. :evillaugh:

In my experience though Birmans make very affectionate cats  , and they are real home lovers. I do think every one should come with a free set of ear-plugs but the noise is worth it! ;) :Luv2:

Good idea - thanks Angela. OH is wrapped up in some work thing at the moment so isn't really listening. I wonder if Margaret would be interested in him? - not trying to pass the parcel but until OH gives me the nod, not a lot I can do.

They are small cats who need loads of human attention and have a raucious shout if they dont get attention or what they want.

:scared: I don't need another one like Alice  :evillaugh:

Thanks Gill. I could cope with a bit of brushing I guess.

Forget what it says Mark, I have two and they tangle easily, easpecially the blue point. His fur is very different to the seal point.

They are small cats who need loads of human attention and have a raucious shout if they dont get attention or what they want.

Franta is an addicted lapcat and they are supposed to be very inteeligent  but that depends on what they want to do LOL...........mine can totally ignore me most of the time and just do what they want despite being told no.

They are very stubborn and will only do what they want but they are gorgeous............mine do not like the moggy pair who are both bigger. I think they all want to be top cat LOL

Franta is a lap cat but Ducha not cos he cant get comfortable with his 3 legs.

Both of mine were about 12 when they came to me so probably very set in their ways as they had live most of their lives with one owner and now aged 17 they think they should get everything they want , when they want it, which is immediately  :-[

I am sure you would love a birman cos their big blue eyes and white paws are irresistable  ;D I think the seal points are the nicest looking  :Luv2:

Hi Mark this cat is at a vets in Paddock Wood so not far from your study place? He has lived with 2 other cats... Sue has more details they classed him (not sure if a cross birman) as seal point (or maybe blue) not sure now what she said.
Cannot save the world, but if everyone does something we can have a jolly good job trying too....

Thanks Liz,

I did a bit of reading and the couple of things I read says they have silky knot-free fur. It is up to OH really. I'm not a fan of long haired cats as a rule. As for the carrier, it is actually the CP one. I haven't got round to getting another since the time I collected 2 strays from 2 different parts of Canterbury one morning and the one I had in our plastic carrier escaped. I binned it a vowed to never use a plastic carrier again. I have been using the CP one ever since. I really must get a spare 2nd carrier - another wire one!  :evillaugh:

Mark quite similar to our raggie who is brushed 3 times a week and loves it - she also has access to the outside but she is laid back and purry and has wonderful blue eyes

Our Minmin also eats normal foods and has no other issues

This oun ds promising - I never picked up Cissys box I bought a new one which Charlie and Echo  share for visits

ie brushing etc?

There are no pictures, but SHaron has been putting the feelers out for a cat in need. Another CP branch has told her about a 7 year old boy who has been dumped at the vet for PTS. The vets examined him and he had a skin condition. After a steroid jab, it has cleared up. The branch has no space for him at the moment so he is still at the vets. Apparently, he is a friendly, laid-back part Birman. OH is napping studying atm, so I will mention it later. I could do a detour after college, although the carrier is still at the vets  :(
