Had a cat under a neutering campaign that had an undescended - that cost around £120 at the time. Also he had to wear a buster collar.

On CC some people have used a comfy collar (costs around £10 and you can get it on-line) - It is inflatable collar and does not restrict the vision like the buster collar. So don't know if that might be an option.

Blue our feral had this op and got internal stitches and superglue to keep wound together and well as his hernia fixed - no way could he wear a buster collar - haven't been close enough to him since we bought him home and thats 2 years ago

I have had two cats with undescended testicles, but they were fosters so on the rescues account anyway. Both were easy to find fortunately, but as they had to cut into the groin to find them, they had external stitches and had to wear a buster collar.

im trying not to think about the extra risk involved in longer surgery and more cuts  and i dont think Neko will do  well with a buster collar, hes not well balanced as it is. but hes pulled the scabs of his current wounds once already  maybe its best if i just plan to cuddle him constantly?

I think it may need careful watching as I know a human who ended up with gangrene sp? Very very painful and it had to be removed urgently.

t'internet says the internal ones are much more of a risk of cancer. theyd have been done when he was first brought in if his weight was better- hes currently 2.69kg, vet estimates his weight should be 5kg. so they think itll be in about a month- i think they want him abit on the thin side as its apparently easier to find them with less fat. so it is a priority and hes under a close eye- not sure if youve seen his naming thread but neko also has a curved spine and a head tilt along with some nice big scrapes and wounds. hes such a lovely boy though

Esco, my dog, had this problem too. It did cost more...pushing £150 but I can't remember exactly. That was last year. Like Julie said, it will depend on exactly where the other testicle is hiding. It was 50/50 as to whether he would be home that evening or if he would have to stay in. Fortunately he came home but obviously staying in would have bumped the cost up. He is absolutely fine now though

My Sam (RIP) had this, can't remember how much extra it was over routine neutering though, as it was nearly 13 yrs ago now.

Ah... that answers the question. Google Cryptorchid. 

A few of us have had Crypto cats, myself included. 

They won't really know until they open him up how hard it will be. Some of them are really easy to find, others much more tricky and can be well buried in the abdomen. So do prepare yourself for major surgery but there's a chance it might not be such an ordeal. Crypto surgery can be v. expensive as it can be a big operation.  The one I had cost me £100 at a time when the normal cost would have been £25.

i have no idea, my adoption coordinator said inverted and when i asked the vet she didnt correct it. basically only one is visible. the other is missing, presumed internal but location unknown...

Neko, newest foster/soon to be newest addition to the snarf household amongst his other issues has an inverted testicle. he cant be neutered until his weights up and i was planning/hoping to adopt him in the meantime. our foster coordinator said that the op for an inverted testicle is abit more than a normal neuter but not much but asked the vets today and shes said to budget for 100-200  which i can find but will hurt. is the vet being overly pessamistic? anyone with any experience? im going to ring a few other vets and ask.
