I wouldn't put Noah in a cattery unless it was a dire emergency, he gets upset at meowing on YouTube!  :boxer:
:'( My beautiful Noah rescued 13/02/09, adopted 11/10/09, taken 11/02/11 :'( You deserved so much more.

That's good.  I am going to start viewing catteries soon.

The Feline Advisory Bureau has some good tips in regard to what to look for.  :)

http://www.fabcats.org/catteries/infosheets/choosing_a_boarding_cattery/choosing_boarding_cattery.html

I can say we tick every box......plus each cage has its own cleaning equitment and a day sheet on the door that is filled in every day to note what the cat has eat, has it used its tray and are there any problems

There are also advantages of having them in the cattery as there is normally some one there most of the time so will spot if a cat is not feeling well more easily than someone quickly popping in to feed and clean litter trays.

I actually find myself feeling sick when I think about Ella and Effie going in one. I am concerned I will cry all holiday. My Oh's parents are paying forus to go with them to celebrate their wedding anniversary and a special birthday and I daren't be upset throughout the holiday!

I agree with you michelle. I know in my circumstances proper care is crucial. They did not like Cattery at first but when I went to collect ollie and Tyler they were so content

Im glad the cat was caught. Its one of my nightmares when I help at the cattery. That said today one family insisted on cuddling their kitten until it was outside and then putting it in the carrier even though I explained we have double doors in case of escapees so they cant get out. In the end I just said it was their choice and their responsibilty

I would have refussed to have let them do it !   :evillaugh:

I think it's better to have someone to go in a couple of times a day and feed them if you can. That's what I used to do when I lived in London.

Ummm I don't agree really!
AS I say to people when they view the cattery ....Your cat might not like being here but the important thing is they are safe and will be here when you get back !

Ollie and Tyler are in the cattery just now as i was away for few days and had no one to come in and feed them. Visit the cattery first, I have to use Cattery now as i have to ensure Ollie gets his medicine. . Does not usually take time for them to settle. The cattery i use there is no way of them escaping as there is loads of doors. guess they could escape from boix before they go in but that could happen anywhere.

If you feel comfortable with the people running the cattery and its clean they should be fine

That's a relief!

Worth bearing in mind that this has nothing to do with the cattery - could have happened anywhere, e.g. on the way to the vet.

That is the only reason we haven't had a holiday in 5 years. I am the only person that can pill Clapton without stressing him. Kylie would probably be OK but Alice howls if I leave them room for 2 minutes and I have to coax Clapton to eat. They are both terrified of strangers as well. Just the fact that Clapton is in final stage kidney disease, we would never forgive ourselves if something happened. The cats are so used to me being around most of the time, they don't know any different. I gave up regular work 6 years ago to open a B&B (since closed) and now doing a degree, so they are used to full pampering  :evillaugh:

When I lived in Islington, a woman used to come round twice a day to feed the cats when we were away - a professional cat feeder  :evillaugh:

http://www.islington.gov.uk/directories/page.aspx?dir=LTCS&dir_name=LTCS&docid=0901336c805a5017

She was excellent. I cooked up lots of Coley for Kylie and put it in freezer bags. Every morning, she transferred a bag from freezer to fridge each morning so it would be thawed for the evening feed.

Thanks Mark. I don't really have a choice. We are quite private people and don't have close friends that could pop in. I don't know my neighbours despite living here for 17 years  Plus I think i would worry if Ella or Effie got out when someone was here. I think i would worry more if they were home than in a cattery!

Plus we are hoping to move next year so we may be living somewhere different! So circumstances may change!

I do find it a worry, it will be out first time away from them for 3.5 years when it comes

Glad she's back. I would have had to cancel my holiday  :shy: - then again, I would never use a cattery.  :evillaugh:

It reminded me of the time a couple of years ago when I picked up 2 strays from different parts of Canterbury. I had the trusty wire carrier for one but used a regular plastic one for the other. I drove to Herne Bay to the vets. I was walking down the road with the carrier and got 2 doors from the vets when the cat went ape and smashed the door off the carrier and vanished. I was frantic. I looked for ages and Julie and I spent hours the next day leafleting + Julie attracted every other cat in Herne Bay with her tin of sardines  :evillaugh: - but no luck. The cat turned up a year later when an old man reported it. Luckily, she was fine  :Luv2:

I heard of a similar story and the way they got the cat back was to put its 'cat friend' out by the cat trap.  The loose cat was in the trap the next day.

Could be worth a try?

Oh my God what a worry  :( Did the owners go away still? If they have then I would flood the area with posters/flyers with the cattery number on. If they didn't ene up going then you can still do loads of flyers for them but put the owners number on.

Fingers crossed he/she is found soon
