VERY MATURE = 48  :evillaugh: - given that i have 2 years to go, IF I graduate, I will be 50. One of our gripes is although we have all kinds of animals onsite, we don't get as much hands-on as we would like. The animal care courses such as HNDs spend a lot of time with them but the BSc is a lot of theory - luckily, not all otherwise I would have given up by now. There is a dairy and a large herd of sheep + pigs, Llamas, goats, horses (They do equine courses there), + lots of small animals, reptiles & birds. Last year, the PDSc behaviour, FDSc Conservation & BSc Animal Management shared a lot of lectures. There are quite a few older people, including a woman in her 60s - but this year I will be the oldie  :evillaugh:

I love the animal stuff and doing things like visiting WHF,  but sometimes wonder what I am doing there when it gets a bit hardcore with biology etc - I hated doing dissection. My least favourite part is business management - I hate it. Luckily my OH has an MBA so I can get help at home  :evillaugh:

DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

Mark, I like how you describe yourself as a VERY mature student!! How mature is VERY?? lol

There's quite a mixed bunch in my year....we've got the babies who have come from school (20/21), folks like me who are in there 30s and then there's a couple who are in their 50s. We all get on so well, got a really good cohort!

When I was in my late teens, I attempted a National Diploma in Animal Care at Brackenhurst College but had to leave because I developed bad animal related asthma!! How ironic... I was gutted. Can't go near guinea pigs or rabbits without wanting to combust and I'm not great around cats and ferrets but I REFUSE to stop having them as pets because I love them far too much!!  :evillaugh:

I actually want to quit my course, its not how I imagined. I would rather have a family! But of course in the real world I shall carry on (otherwise my other half would kill me!!)

I often have the same problem  :evillaugh: I am often posting on here with part-written assignments due the following day  :evillaugh:

I failed one exam this year but luckily for me,  they compensated it to a pass as I passed all the others. Due to start my 2nd year BSc in Animal Management in a few weeks  :scared: (as a VERY mature student  :evillaugh: )

When I did my science foundation, we were told we could apply for an interview for radiography and I came close to applying, but then decided I should continue with animal science.

This is a very good place to get distracted in, just not whilst your revising  :evillaugh:

My friend's a radiographer - she's taken a year out to travelling at the mo but enjoys the job! :)

I'm about to start my 3rd year at Derby Uni, studying Radiography. At the moment I'm meant to be revising cuz I failed one of my exams. Not only is Facebook an addiction of mine which lures me away from my books, I now have you guys!!  :evillaugh:

My friend Nikki (MrsR) told me to join when I lost my furbaby almost 2 weeks ago, as she thought it would help me cope with losing her, and not only have you guys been fab, I now have another addiction!  ;)

I'd much rather be on here talking all things feline that reading about subarrachnoid haemorrhages!!!  :P

Possum.....if you can hear me.....daddy & I miss you so much baby girl. Come & visit us soon....  xx  :'( :Luv:
