Day 4 in the Big Brother Haggis House

Today after playing outside on harnesses this morning and a walk in the woods this evening  (where they both saw their first baby deer) Haggis , although still being a bit rough is being very firmly put in his place by little Miss Bold Rosie and harmony I hope is very gradually being restored ( although I am supervising them still )

I am very Proud of Haggis, who is accepting that actually She might just have to be boss afterall

Each day we make a little progress  :Luv: :Luv:

Here we are out walking ..........

remember that Haggis is still a baby himself.  Kittens play by simulating adult activites such as fighthing.  It invariably looks and sounds worse than it actually is.

Are you sure he is trying to kill her  ??

weeellll , maybe kill is not his intent. But he is using teeth and there lots of chasing, cornering and squeaking from her. I'd let them fight it out if she was a little bigger. I'm hoping that the more time they spend outside where he is the perfect gentleman will stop this irratic behaviour indoors,  8) 8).. He let her push him away from his bowl when she had finished eating tonight. We went out for a walk in the woods on harnesses and they walked along like old chums and then fell asleep on the chair on the way home - and then 10 minutes in the door and he's going crazy :-: :-: :-: :-: :-:

but its early days and things are a little better today than yesterday

Thankyou everyone for the advice

Afraid it was full on here and after 4 years Ducha still hates Misa and the feeling is mutual although its now moaning and whinin g rather than the go for the throat that Ducha use to do!

I am sure they will get on fine soon, they are both lovely  ;D

Thankyou. there is progress. Its odd though. They have been out for hours on harness in garden today. Been to the woods and walked together for an hour .Lay asleep in the campervan couch on the way home and then eaten from side by side bowls  and been so close without a crossed paw  - BUT then he tries to kill her, pouncing and nipping and being SOOOOO aggressive. I know its territorial but its very baffling "Jeckyl and Hyde behaviour.
Now he's watching me like butter wouldnr melt while I've put her to bed in "her" safe room.

I do hope it gets better I'm exhausted

I would also be inclined to just let them get on with it.  They are just playing.  Keep an eye on them if they get rough, but they do tend to play rough and usually no harm comes from it.  Maybe I'm a mean meomwy cos when Mosi came to live with us I just let Jaffa do what he wanted with him

That's exactly the same policy in my house.  I just let em get on with it.  None of this gentle introduction stuff  ;)  As long as everyone has plenty of places to hide and I am there to break it up if it gets a bit too full on I just let them work it out for themselves.  ;)
In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

Rosie is extremely  :Luv2: sounds like they will be good friends once the pecking order is established. Haggis should know that the girls are always in charge

Happy to say that a little progress has been made. After much "attacking" most of the day ( in between cuddled up naps) I decided to try more neutral territory of the garden and put on Rosie's harness. There was no attacking outside at all. I think its about toys and playing because Haggis never "plays" with toys out there and was happy to wander around with her and even licked her ears. When we came in he resorted to the "attack" behaviour again. So I think we will have to go outside  together and have them together inside  when he is not at his most hyper. I think his aggression is mostly playful although he has been very rough at times. She is very brave and never runs and hides but he is so much bigger she doesnt stand a chance when he loupes on top. So we will have to continue to supervise for a while yet I guess

Based on how Rosie had a right go at Pinball the other day after he accidently knocked her over trying to rub heads with her I'd keep an eye but be inclined to let her and Haggis get on with it when you are there as it's not like she's a shy girl who wouldn't dream of giving as good as she gets. The fact they aren't trying to murder each other all the time and the fact they will happily sleep with each other says to me that his pouncing is probably more him trying to play with her and figure out what he can get away with with her and seeing if he can get her to accept that he is in charge.

Dear Haggis,

I very very much doubt that Rosie will ever let you be in charge as the dominant female streak that passes down your Mummy's side of the family was passed to your half sister who has passed it onto Rosie  :evillaugh: Neepsie said to tell you that if you are nice to her she will wash you which will save you a job  ;D

Love
your first human Lottie xx

Help !! Advice needed

 :scared:
Its day 2.5 in the "Big Brother House" and Haggis (Big brother) is undecided about this new intruder!!!!!

I have Rosie locked in a room upstairs and Haggis as I write is locked in the kitchen cause otherwise he wants to dig a tunnel into Rosies room  :tired: :tired:

I have been letting him in for short periods and at first he sniffs and just watches her ( he has even had a very friendly nap with her once or twice). However after 5 minutes he starts the aggressive behaviour and is pouncing at her. She is tiny but stands her ground and will hiss and lash back at him.

So what do I do ???

Do I let him in and take him away when he starts pouncing ( which i think is playful mostly) ???
Do I try to keep him out all the time???
Do I let them have a few spatts to sort out the rules ???

Haggis is constantly at the door wanting in  >:( >:( >:(

PLEASE HELP  ;) ;) ;) ( poor Haggis , I'm away to give him cuddles cause he's most unhappy being locked in the kitchen)
