After 6 months they'd probably end up "rehoming" him because he's spraying in the house  >:(

The most distressing one I saw was a week or so ago, a ginger cat looking for a home, the same ad and picture appeared a few times then disappeared. Then a couple of days later there was an ad from the original owner saying that the cat had been homed from them onto someone else who had then posted another ad selling the cat on. Original owners seemed quite distressed as were trying to pass on the likes and dislikes and what food kitty had been on before rehoming to whoever had ended up with it :(

So there are people taking on the free ones to then sell on for profit >:(

It just gets worse and worse.

There's one on there today, 9 month old being given away because the owner is moving. Nothing else in the advert, not even a picture, wonder where that poor little kitty will end up?

That is awful, if only they knew before hand what is likely to happen :(

we are dealing with a bloke doing this.. he is getting dogs to free homes and selling them on, telling us though he has been dumped with them (he dont realise we see the ads) half of them 3 days later he is calling me and pleaing with me to take them as cant cope. recent one is a bullstaff x staffy pup at 10 months old.. he is threating to hand it in to police as a dangouras dog in which then they will PTS :( he called me other night saying the dog had bit him and he had to pull it off, was on his way to police.. I had to drag my kids out at 10.30pm and get my mate down to go down with me.. 10 month pup isnt likely to bite with agression as such and i had feeling its was a lie.. I went down and the dog was in  acage, he growled at us but he felt trapped and scared. i corrected him and once he laid down and relaed let him out. he pounded out that cage tail wagging ten to the dozen wanting ,ove and fuss. I went to stroke him and he hit the deck and cowered so bean beaten by last owners :(  I asked the guy what happened for him to bite and he said he tried getting him back in from the garden and grabbed his harness from behind. I pointed out IF he did bite because of that it was because you grabbed him, he thought you was going to hurt him.. I looked at his hands and asked where the bite marks were as a bigbreed like that if latched on would of caused damage.. there wasnt even a tooth mark or dent! he then hmmd and arred so i knew he was lieing.. The dog is lovely and trys to so hard to please and look for love. I showed him how to handle the dog, that he doesnt even need to touch him to get what he wants as he is treat orientated.. I have found a rescue space and now urgently trying to get transport to Norfolk to get him safe.. We did have stern words with him also and told him he has to stop taking these dogs as one day he wont be so lucky if one does attack! he know I am watching him and I go round frequently. That night I also took from him a rabbit and two giunea pigs together in a cage no bigger than a cat carrier. Its not surpising one of the piggies had broken back legs!

you are right too many unwanted babies inthe world...i wish i could have them all but i cant...and i wouldnt be selfsih enough to let my girls have kittens too.....

You should just say 'I'll have it' and go and pick it up, it seems most people would be more confortable with any old person taking their cat so would probably go for it. You honestly couldn't make some of this stuff up

You saying im old!!  >:(

Yeh, I set my account up as a rescue one though as i appeal on one as a rescue in the hope some will think twice and contact us.. it does work that way though aswell.

These free ad sites are driving me mental with all these ads..

It annoys me when i cotnact them offering a rescue space and they have cat up free to good home, then refuse me and my offer as rescues are bad places  How the heck do they figure that out.. i respond pointing out we home check all people wanting to adopt, make sure they are fully vaccinated, chipped, spayed etc.., do you?

They're normally the ones who'll say 'Oh but we'll love it, and it's better than it being thrown out on the street, and we'll be good owners honest...'  :tired:

"and we'll find good homes for all the kittens and we'll make sure all the kittens' new owners promise to find homes for their kittens too ...."

so  :censored: thick!  >:(

TBH I suspect this is a money making venture  :(

Ahhh, we've all had one of those responses when trying to point people in the right direction.... :evillaugh:

We sure have! Much like the appeals for a free or cheap kitten as they can't afford to pay for it and when you ask how they intend to feed, neuter, vaccinate etc etc...............But we keep on keeping on!

Where's the angry icon for a thread when you need it?

Ad on site reads -

we are looking for a male cat to add to our family and keep our Blue BSH company in the day time.
Would prefer a slightly older cat (6 months or over) and do not want him to be neautured.

My angry response (couldn't help myself!) -

What on earth would you want an unneutered male cat for apart from breeding?
Male cats that are entire stink, want to fight and mate. Fighting and mating is what leads to all sorts of nasty viruses such as FIV, FELV, FIP and many more - go and look them up on the internet.

As for breeding, there are far too many unwanted kittens and cats already - why do you think we get so many dumped on us? and why our waiting lists grown longer by the day?
And if you want to mate your female, you will exposing her and the kittens to these - it is heartbreaking to watch a litter of kittens thriving until one of the viruses takes hold.
We have spent hundreds of pound at the vets with some litters, many sleepless nights and still lost a litter at 6 weeks old age.
If you existing cat is a male then they will be constantly fighting.

Please do the responsible thing.
