The fox who lived at the Peterculter Golf Club had grown so used to members that it was nearly tame. It would often stand at the feet of golfers, quietly begging for treats. The Sun reported that it was a "popular fixture" at Peterculter--that is, until Donald Forbes brutally beat it nearly to death with a golf club.
After Forbes caught the fox trying to steal a biscuit from his belongings, he attacked it with his golf club. After hearing it "screaming in agony," another golfer had to put it out of its misery. Forbes was fined $1,210. Though Peterculter suspended him for nine months, they have now decided to reinstate him.
When she heard the fox's tragic story, Care2 activist Alicia Graef created a petition asking Peterculter to ban Forbes from the club for life. She writes:
Unfortunately, the link between animal cruelty and other forms of violence has been widely recognized and needs to be taken seriously. The club should take this opportunity to take a stand against this level of depravity by holding Forbes accountable for his barbaric behavior by banning him for life.
An animal cruelty officer described Forbes's actions as "brutal and sickening." Don't let Peterculter Golf Club ignore his depravity; tell it to ban Forbes today!ยป
