For anyone with cat fountain- distilled water is the best to use especially in hard water areas, checked with vet whether safe for cats, he said yes and have been using it for a few weeks now.   Filter doesn't get limescale, is good as new.  I get the water from our local chemist

Wish you hadn't told me about that as I've recently bought one!  It took a good month or more for mine to use it (might even have been 2 months)  but then I moved it into the bathroom - lead going out of the door and nowhere near the bath/sink - and it's been used by all of them since then.  A ceramic one would be better, mine is plastic, but I can't really afford another one at the moment.

I spent £30 on a fountain and my 2 aren't the least bit interested in it.  That one does look better than the one I got but £47 is a lot of money for a water fountain.

Hi, if anyone is interested

http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_bowls_feeders/cat_fountains/146304

This is the best fountain I've come across and did a lot of research into the product including contacting the company in Germany.  At first was a little concerned, there is no filters to change then came to the conclusion the filters are an unnecessary added expense, so long as you clean the fountain including pump as like you would with any any, there is no clogging or dirty water.  Also with the 2 ceramic parts, just need to ensure with a bit of fine tweaking, it's positioned correctly to prevent at rattling.

I love the idea it's ceramic and not plastic, making it more hygienic for cat and water stays cool.  It's worth investing and has a 2 year guarantee on it.  There is on the internet, instructions as to how to put it together though very easy and you can get spare pumps as well from a stockist in Germany.
