My friend has two neutered boys who were rescued from the same home, but I don't think they are brothers. They are indoor cats, he has never said they spray and get on like a house on fire! I donated Noah's crunch tunnel and it is apparently their favourite night-time toy.  :Luv2:
:'( My beautiful Noah rescued 13/02/09, adopted 11/10/09, taken 11/02/11 :'( You deserved so much more.

Any 2 males I've had have got on well, it's the females and males that have just tolerated each other  :shify:

5 of my gang are boys (all neutered) 4 are wonderful together and 1 not. You can get probs with any combo of cats as adults, it all really depends on the cats themselves!
Having 2 kittens that close in age should be fun, they will see each other as brothers, i always think young boys are better with other boys as they play in the same way, girls are much more mature and sensible and dont always want to wrestle!

I have got 3 Bengly boys who all get on brilliantly - we call them the 3 muskateers - LOL when they get a bit out of hand ny Bengly girl sorts them out.

I have also got a moggie boy and a moggie girl who pretty much ignore the Bengals (as much as possible anyway)

I dont think you will have any problems at all.

yep  :Luv:

Laughing boy is comin to be friends with Happy Haggis. He's called Fergus .... but everyone is callin him "Neeps" , which kinda suits his colour and gives me an excuse to have an all white cat from Lottie when she gets Orion to make my "Haggis, Neeps and Tattie" combo complete  :lol2: (but might need a bigger house tho)

Thankyou all for the reassurance . I knew really that it would be fine, but have a number of people  tell me its a bad idea , I needed some proper cat lover people to reassure me it will be ok .  here's a wee pic of number 2 boy who will arrive in about 4/5 weeks time ( he's the BIG boy on the left)

They'll be fine together as introduced at such young ages and both having their bits off  :evillaugh: but if you feel you aren't sure you know where I live!  ;D  ;)

A few pics of Bilbo and Pinball during the first few months after he arrived. Bilbo was nearly 3 when Pinball arrived and they lived together all the time (Bilbo shared Pinball's stud house with him) and we never had any problems with them even though Pinball wasn't neutered.

As others have said most people are probably thinking of older entire males who in 99% of cases *hate* each other and will attack each other given half a chance and spray everywhere to mark their territory as they view the other male as competition for females. As both of your boys will be neutered before they are 6 months old and are only 9 weeks apart in age there should be no difference in them being 2 boys than there would if they were a boy and a girl or 2 girls.

I think Star was about 1 year old when Janine got Mali as company for him and they get on really well with no spraying  :)

i have 4 cats, 3 male and one female.

effectively they are two pairs that tollerate each other.

onr pair are nearly 17yr old birman brothers, so no probs there and the male 9yrs and female 11 yrs had never met befotre arriving here together and no probs spraying.

if your breeder is Lottie, she knows exactly what she is doing and you are defunately right to listen to her advice  ;D

I have two males that are litter mates and they get along fine together, they seem to enjoy having someone to run around with, chase and play flight with! They have also just been neutered at the age of 7 months. We had no spraying before neutering and have had none since!

I have 3 males and they are just like brothers, no problems at all  :Luv2: I think what your friend may be refering too is when they are older and not neutered  :)

I once had 5 males , all turned up at different times, all different ages and they all loved each other and cuddled up together .

I know have 2 males and 2 females and none of them cuddle up with each other !!!
Smartie and Winston get on really well together and neither sprays , the 2 girls Fifi and Sophie mainly keep to theirselves and if anything its the 2 girls that only tolerate each other -but Soph is almost 16 and a bit cantakerous now. Both girls get on with both the boys .

A bit confused on ages of your cats...

Are you saying your existing kitten will be 5 months old and new kitten younger than that coz, if so, I don't envisage any particular problems just coz they are male.

If the age gap is some years then maybe your existing cat's nose may be put out of joint a bit by excitable youngster but that's just as likely whether 2 males or one of each.

When people are forewarning you of difficulties, they are probably thinking more of 2 unneutered older cats who would be more likely to be territorial I think.

I have two Singapura boys who absolutely adore each other and at the age of nearly five, still wrestle, play chase, then curl up in the same basket or bed and groom each other or sleep together.

They are litter brothers, so I never had to introduce them to each other. They are both neutered, are indoor cats, and have never sprayed.

As far as I'm aware your 5 month old is still pretty young and therefore adaptable; once both boys are neutered there's no sexual rivalry. I would imagine that after that it's whether they are compatable in nature, two 'leader of the pack types' might clash for instance. it might make the difference between two cats who tolerate each other but are effectively two separate feline 'groups' within the same household, or two cats who are 'best buddies'.

If you're using the same breeder, who you say you trust , perhaps s/he can pick a kitten suited to your current boy?

No problems at all.  I had Jaffa and Magpie together for 8 years - they were brothers and got on fine.  No spraying.   After Magpie died, I got Mosi.  Ok, so Mosi is a bit of a shock to the system if you're an "older" cat, and Jaffa has sprayed a bit in the last year or 2 (I have had Mosi for 4 years) but that's because Jaffa is a bit nervous and there has been a lot of disruption lately in his life.  I would never attribute it solely to having 2 males.  If you have 2 dominant personalities, then yes there is probably a slightly increased likelihoold of spraying as a way of marking their territory, but I would never avoid having 2 males together for that reason.  They can live together in perfect harmony (Jaffa even likes Mosi some of the time!)

will 2 males live together in harmony ???
I have been reading on many sites about difficulties with keeping 2 male cats...
My breeder who I trust 100%  ( :Luv: :Luv:)  assures me that when I introduce a male kitten to my male cat (who will be about 5 months at the time) they both should be fine. However I keep getting people tell me its a bad idea and I have been having doubts :(

I have also read that if I keep 2 males they will spray even if they are neutered .. is this true????
I wondered if anyone has had experience and can reassure me that with thoughtful introduction these 2 will be able to live in harmony, without spraying everywhere
Thanks
