When i found a terribly thin and weak cat last week, i took him to my own vet who couldn't treat him because i hadn't got a log number from the RSPCA, yet he'd had a list only a few days before regarding the do's and dont's of a stray cat and it said he can't even look at one without a log number! (He scanned him and checked what sex he was)
Anyway, i took him home with me for the night and a lovely lady Inspector picked him up the next day. He'd scattered litter literally ALL OVER the bedroom carpet, could hardly walk and was just skin and bone. I asked the Inspector if he would be pts straightaway, 'Oh no, the vet will check him over and see what's wrong' He was taken to the RSPCA hospital in Barnes Hill, Birmingham and the following day, was reunited with his owner. (He went missing again 2 days later, and he has liver cancer, but that's another story-grrr!)
I was convinced, cos of the condition of him, he would've been pts-in this case it would've saved him suffering now-but he wasn't, so i think it is down to the individual branches, who unfortunately get tarred with the same brush as the HQ.
