Advice needed

I also spoke to a lady last year who is the manager of over 60s properties in Herne Bay. She had phoned us (Canterbury CP) for advice about a stray that was terrorising her own cats. She also mentioned that her friend was going to have one of their ground floor flats that had a small garden and that she planned on taking on a couple of cats. I can't remember the name of the property but it is in the centre of Herne Bay -  there can't be too many properties like that so it should be easy enough to find out.

Thanks for that,I used to live Gravesend and I know Herne Bay as well,my cousin wants me to move near her in Ramsgate,which I don't know much about,I was offered a flat there last year but they wouldn't accept the cats so had to turn it down.  I will have a search for the places you mentioned.

I understand that you love them, and believe me having lived in rented accommodation all my adult life I know how difficult it can be to find somewhere that will allow you to care for the animals you love.

I think searching the internet for pet friendly landlords in the Kent area might be an idea if you can sort out a bond.

Is there anyone else in the block of flats that you get on really well with that perhaps would say two of the cats are theirs in the interim ?  to take some of the immediate pressure off you. have you searched all the sheltered housing in Kent ?,   if it was me I am afraid I would have to say I only had two cats but take the three with me anyway  

There isn't anyone I could ask about the cats,I really hate this place too (another story)   Maybe you are right about lying how many cats I have!  My cousin seems to think this way,in a sense I agree because if I have to re-home them I would rather it was near to where I live than leave them up here.  I just hate telling lies! They always catch you out!

I'm confused as to why you're rehome  the eldest cats. I think the younger cat probably has a little more chance of being offered a new home in all honesty.

With regards to your visitor, he's not specifically your cat, so I'd advise putting him on a rescue waiting list. Will the Kent housing association allow two cats the same as the Scottish ones?

My two older cats have always been together,they started off with other people but I adopted them both as strays and they get on well together. The little one I had from a kitten and I love him dearly,he is very sensitive and doesn't like people much,very possesive with me.  The visitor I took to the vet when he was ill and discovered he had been chipped but the owner had moved away and I think they live somwhere nearby but don't know where,couldn't just leave him high and dry could I?   I don't actually want to get rid of any of them but am at a loss what to try next,the Kent housing assoc would only accept one cat.  I thought about Direct homing but it breaks my heart to leave them with someone else,I would prefer to keep the eldest 2 together anyway.
I thought about advertising for a place to live where they will accept the 3 cats. I can ring Cats Protection about the feral cat.   I love my cats very much and will try to keep them with me.

My only advice is that if you need to consider rehoming then do so as soon as possible. All rescues will be full to bursting so if you want them to help out then register with them. It may be that you are able to home straight from yours that way.

As far as which ones to home, I would advise that you leave it to whichever is offered a good home first.

Some sheltered housing will accept pets - maybe doing a bit more research into available options?

Hi,
I am looking for advice or ideas. First of all,I live in an upstairs flat belong to housing assoc which stipulates only 2 cats per household. Originally my friend who lived below me on the ground floor had 1 cat and I had 1 cat,about 3 years ago my friend died and I adopted his cat,about the same time my cat brought me a tiny kitten,no idea where he came from but he was very poorly and I adopted him as well. So now today I have an 8 year old,a 7 year old and a 3 year old. Besides this I also have a visitor who spends the best part of his day with me,he must be about 7 years old as well.(he is another story) I am being visited by a feral cat as well every day purely for food(another story as well) The housing association are constantly on my back for leaving the outside door open on the ground floor so that I don't have to keep running up and down the stairs,I am 71 and have a gammy knee!  They are also complaining about cat smell because I think feral cat is spraying(I do clean up down there) I dearly want to move from here in Scotland back to Kent and I have approached sheltered housing in Kent but they wouldn't accept 3 cats. I need advice about this because I am in a turmoil what the best thing to do would be,should I try to re-home the eldest 2 cats which I don't want to do or should I carry on trying to find somewhere else to move,I don't want to stay in Scotland by the way. The next problem would be moving them if I find somewhere else to live and the small problem of being a pensioner with no savings (another story) I go round and round in my head trying to figure this out and really need to speak to cat lovers like yourselves as other people just say well get rid of the cats!  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.........Shirley
