I wonder how many cats we are all turning away?

Today was a good day, mind you I had to work so not been here to pick up phone.

Only 1 stray reported with 'broken tail' but it looks like CP are on the case - they have arranged to get him vet checked and castrated.

I have a stray to pick up tomorrow - my last emergency space, have known about him for weeks and delayed taking him in hoping we would have room - as if!

Called back one chap who then told me to phone tomorrow - no idea what about but probably won't phone back ..... (so lets hoping it wasn't that £1 mill legacy!)

We said at the time that ignorant "health professionals" are some of the worst as people will take their word as gospel. What made it worse was the fact that the lady was so upset about it.

I had a very prem baby (26 weeks) but no body told me about not having pets - they were more concerned about other children!

We had a woman a couple of years ago in tears as the consultant had told her the cats had to go as they were dangerous for her prem.

I wonder what their infection rates are like at the hospital?  I once spent some time with a couple whose son had died after a heart procedure in another large specialist unit about 25 miles from here.  They talked about maintenance cleaners carrying out work over their son's bed!  Sadly he died, don't know if it was from a hospital acquired infection. 

Surely they have more danger from other sources.  I cannot believe families are still being told to get rid of their pets.  Look at the PAT dog scheme which allows children and adults to have contact with animals whilst in hospital and care homes.  If animals are such a risk, surely they would want them Virkoned before entry - only joking!

As with all rescues, turning cats away all the time. Thought it might be interesting to quantify the how many and whys (until I get bored which means this is probably the last post on this thread  )

So starting today -

2 cats. Niece moving to Coventry and Landlord will not take pets as 'his son is allergic to them'.
1 cat. Son is going to Great Ormond st next week to be assessed for heart transplant - been told that pets must go as they have an infection risk.
?i cat. partner and her split. he left cat, she don't want.
