:welcome: to Purrs My cat was on an injected cortico-steroid long term without any side effects. Have had a browse and there doesn't seem to be that many side effects of a one off dose. It does mention behaviour changes but that's a very vague term! From how you describe your cat he sounds lethargic and that is not mentioned.

I think if it's a definite change for him and especially with him being a bouncy youngster then a vet check would be the best thing to put your mind at rest

What side effects may be seen when taking Depo-Medrol?
Side effects are usually dose dependent. If side effects occur, contact your veterinarian, who may decrease the dosage, frequency, or type of corticosteroid.

The most common side effects are increased appetite, drinking, and urination. Your pet may have more "accidents" and need to go outside or use the litter box more often. Less common side effects include weight gain, panting, diarrhea, vomiting, and behavior changes.

Change of behaviour after depo medrol injection
« Reply #1 on: June 07, 2010, 14:13:52 PM »
Hi All. Our cat had a depo medrol injection last week, as his one of the legs had some scabs. Vet said that it might be an allergy or stress related, so he gave that injection. After that our boy became very sleepy and not bothered. His is 11 months old now. But other than that he is eating, drinking and going out at the night time. Rang up the doctors this morning asking maybe it might be side effects of this medication, but they were saying we need to bring him in. so going to see tonight. Can anyone give an a advise, and should vets charge for consultation fee this time? Any help is very appreciated. Thanks
