Whenever I'm given toys there is always a motive. Usually, "Meowmy, I brought this to you so you can throw it for me". I'm glad he's a house cat as I don't really fancy throwing decapitated mousies for his amusement.

Quite often I wake up to a bed full of straws and other pointy and uncomfortable objects.

lay me down, let me go, feeling heavy the ground is cold,
lay me down take it slow I'm ready to stumble, sing & then swing low

What a lovely story, Julie!   :) I didn't really buy the "loneliness" explanation myself. I prefer yours.

I've never figured that one out.  :innocent:

My first cat, Tooshy, developed a strange habit. When my daughter was born for the first 3 months every single morning he would drop a dead mouse at the foot of her cot.  :shify: Suddenly he just stopped doing it.  :shy: I thought perhaps he recognised my daughter as a new kitten and was trying to encourage her to play hunt but then just gave up on her.  :evillaugh: When she grew older, at around 5 years, I told her Tooshy used to bring her mice but then stopped when she hit 3 months old. She said "perhaps he thought I was old enough to catch my own?"

This is an interesting take on the 'gift depositing' phenomenon:

I think they are gifts  :) Are they indoor cats? If so then they are unable to bring you a fresh mouse or bird so their toys are the next best thing  :) My cats often bring me a drinking straw or small toy mousie and I like to think it's because they love me  :Luv2:

Dolce is gorgeous btw  :Luv:

They do say that's why they do that but I'm not sure though I think there must be something in it and it's sweet that all the toys are on your bed  :Luv:

Dolce is lovely  :Luv2:

Toys left on my bed - are they "gifts"?

Hi sorry if this has already been asked !!
I usually arrive from work and find my cat's favorite toys on my bed. Does that have some special meaning or is it just chance? I recall they usually "hunt" something and bring the gift to the main food earner a.k.a me? I would like that :) !! today they left their favorite green plush mouse on my pillow and I went "awwww" but maybe they just left it there and I'm here daydreaming they love me LOL
Thanks for being such a great forum.
This is one of them when she was younger (Dolce): (I got other pics on my first post!)
