Not all RSPCA branches are bad...

Mark, my ex's mom was told the same thing last year when a stray cat turned up with 2 kittens-'as long as she's feeding the kittens, it's ok' She'd phoned the main RSPCA number. I rang a few local numbers for her but had no luck either! As far as i know, they're still there.............................................
 

So they are making the problem worse with their "see no evil" attitude 

I can't remember the exact figures but on CP website, or maybe on a leaflet, the give the number of cats that can end up being born from one pair mating and the offspring mating and so on,  in a few years if cats are left unneutered. That is without bringing in the suffering caused to the poor cats in the meantime.

On my local branch site there is a 2 month old kitten who is deaf with neurological problems and hasn't had much handling looking for a home.   

Poor little love!  I'm sure a lot of places would have taken the easy way out with him

Sharon will tell you about the RTA stray cat at the vet where they had contacted named charity for help and told that £50 was the max. They phoned CP and Sharon took responsibility for the cat. (from what I remember, the vet got the £50 towards the bill from you know who) Luckily the vet also compromised and only charged for the metalwork needed to repair the pelvis etc - and this was a vet in PAH  - the same vet that allowed Julie to drop off a feral colony as & when they were caught.

So glad to hear that - most of you know that I have nothing but praise for the Calderdale RSPCA in Halifax where I got Bonnie from.  They took her off her owner as they didn't take her to the vet when they should've done and Bonnie had to have her tail removed and she was in the RSPCA for 9 months being treated and then I came along and she still had to have treatment for another year and a few months but now she's PURRfect.

But, I do agree that RSPCA rules should be changed and lots of things looked in to.

There are good employees at every branch as far as I can tell, that live in hope the policies will change. The ones that cared when I was on placement at our local branch left shortly after my placement ended one by one because they were so disheartened.

Sorry, the charity as a whole needs a damn good shake up to live up to it's purpose.

I think people have said before - it is down to the people and on a local level, most people are pretty decent. I have lost count of the times people have told me that they have reported strays and been told "Don't feed it and it will go away" or similar.

I was just about to post about Mikey, Edd-you beat me to it!  I've been to her house a couple of times and her facilities are wonderful. She is so dedicated to the furries! I also met another lady last week who fosters for the same branch, she's exactly the same!

Yep I've seen both good and bad sides, shame all branches aren't good ones.

On Catchat there are a few RSPCA branch fosterers and one of them at the moment is caring for a young stray cat whose back legs are paralysed after being shot with an airgun pellet. Her latest post shows a short video of her playing with the gorgeous Mikey.

Before that she had an un-neutered stray who tested FIV+ and she successfully found him (Barney) a lovely home through the CC Forum (after neutering of course).

Yep I've seen both good and bad sides, shame all branches aren't good ones.  Hope the little kitty gets a lovely home very soon xx
