Have a look at Dr Addie's site, she has lots of info about gingivitis/stomatis, treatments, diets etc. http://dr-addie.com/stomatitis.html. Feeding cat foods without preservatives etc can help in some cases as there's some thought that some of the additives/preservatives in cat foods could be one cause.

By the way, chicken wings are fine to give to cats, as long as they are raw - never cooked.

I had read about the raw chicken thing, is there not a choking hazard?

I've just found out my 2 year old rescue has gingivitis, so have been doing a bit of research on the net

and I think I have read that cats under 1, or even a bit more, can shake it off without veterinary treatment, though if he will let you clean his teeth yourself that will help a lot

also chewing on raw chicken wings helps remove plaque and tartar

Hi, I took my 8mth BSH for his pre-op check on monday ( he is to be neutered next week )
All was ok except the vet noticed he has Gingivitis. He said he is not going to treat it as it is a common thing in this breed  :-:
However I have noticed he does have pretty bad breath (the cat, not the vet!!)  :naughty:
Has anyone else experience this? Is it possible to treat it? None of my cats have ever had it before.
I worry incase it hurts him although he is still eating ok, biscuits & wet food.
Any advice will be gratefully received, dont want the vet to think I am a paranoid mad cat woman!!
