Woo Hoo how fabulous .... we will of course be expecting lots of pics of your new babies when they arrive.
In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

thanks for all the hello's, everyone here seems really friendly. I've been busy this week reading lots of posts!

After the sad demise of our beloved Kitty, and the pain of an empty house we visited a cat rescue centre this weekend and reserved not one, but three beautiful cats (it was so tempting to have even more!). Picking them up on Friday, can't wait!

hi again all and thanks for the nice welcome :)

well i'm two injections in and its not been too bad actually. Our Kitty has a fantastically calm temperament and isnt fussed at all about the jabs, which makes my life easier!
She isn't too keen on the prescription food we've been gived - it's called M/D. It seems alot harder/crunchier than her old Iams, but the vet said she has to change onto it. Ideas to make it more appealing would be good  :sneaky:

The vet told us to keep her in the house, but I'm finding that very awkward as she is used to coming and going when she needs to, especially as she has never had a litter tray!

Liz- good idea about the powdered glucose - the vet told me to buy some honey and keep it incase of emergencies, i presume that would work just as well.

She is a lovely cat, so calm natured - i think it is because her first four years she was owned by an elderly lady who sadly died so she ended up in the rescue centre. It is because she is so sweet and easy to look after in the past I really didn't want to consider the vet's other option they gave us .....

Hope you all enjoy the New Year celebrations, I'm just pleased that we made the right decision and will all be here for 2010.

:welcome: to Purrs I am mother to the Clan Cats all 46 of them and their pets our 2 Border collies Sky and Sunny!

We had a diabetic feral - no surprise as 30 of my mob are feral

Tiger was injected twice a day for 2 years before we lost him last year to his heart condition

We found feeding them an "extra meal" on a special saucer made life so much easier for the injection and we always injected whilst they were eating.

if you have only one pussy cat then there is diabetic food you can have which makes life easier, we also had powdered gluscose in the house so if they went hypo its quickly mixed with water and syringed in to the mouth

Feel free to pm me if you need any more help or have questions - we may be taking on a CP Diabetic in the new year!

:welcome: to Purrs, bayleypar: glad you found us.

I too think there are several people with experience of this so I hope one of them will turn up shortly.

 :welcome: to Purrs  ;D

your cat is very handsome, whats her name?

Sorry to hear she has diabetes and am sure we have someone on here who has been there...........maybe Liz but its a bit late for most.

I have given about 20 injections of an abs but dont know if diabetes injections also go just under the skin, I hope she is good for you

Hi and  :welcome: to Purrs

you've come to the right place for support and advice - I don't have any experience of a cat with diabetes, but several members do

Hi all,

Just found this site as I'm trawling the internet looking for information :)

I'm the proud parent of a 9yr old rescue kitty (had her for 5yrs), who has just been diagnosed with diabetes.
Bit of a shock; I did my first injection tonight - very scary! She needs them twice-daily.

If anyone has any experience would be much appreciated as I'm really naive about all this. Never owned a cat before her, and never owned an animal with diabetes.

Many thanks,

Bayley
