If vets who advise spaying at 6 months also advised the kitten to stay in even tho its had its vaccinations it would be helpful, yes technically vaccination means it ok to have contact with outdoor germs but people take things literally and open the catflap  :tired: :brick:

How old is Dooey now michelle?

He is 5mths but I think he is on the small side

Too right MM, Do-Do's hasn't been outside and won't be going out till he is ALOT bigger....I couldnt even imagine letting him out yet, he wouldnt stand a chance against a dog/fox etc

... and that's why CP issued the guidelines. If all vets neutered at 4 months most rescues' workload would be cut by a half I am sure.  :sneaky:

You're not wrong Julie....
Maybe one day soon it will change x

Yes I have heard alot of vets wont neuter females until they are 6mth old.....if they would do them just one month earlier it would stop alot of unwanted kittens

We can usually talk our vets into early neuter but some are more willing than others. PAH Canterbury are heroes of mine recently.  :naughty:

CP advises cats be neutered at 4 months now. Problem comes with finding a vet confident enough to do it.  :tired:

I asked my vets if they would neuter/spay at 12-14 weeks so I could get kittens done before they leave me and they said no  :tired:

A lot of vets won't even do it at 5 months which is mad, I think it was Sunset's owner that said their vets said they wouldn't spay her until she was at least 6 months but as it was in her contract that she had to be done at 5 months old at the latest and the proof of spaying form returned to me then the vets did it at 5 months as they didn't have much choice.

It is a shame that most UK vets don't seem as keen on early neutering as US and Australian vets do.

Yep, CP guidelines now state we should aim to neuter all kittens at 4 months if at all posible.  ;)

Cheers Julie....

Never had a male that has "displayed" the fact they have feeling  :evillaugh:
Will sort out getting him done in the next week or so

The dirty boy lol!  :evillaugh:

My vet said if they are big enough to grab hold of they are big enough to come off!  ;) Diff vets will vary on this though....I know when I took my Baz in (at 4 and half months) they would not do it and told me that.....Even though he was biting my wrist and humping my arm, oh and the dog!!!  :-[

Some people get kittens early neutered at 10-12 weeks so can't see Dooey being small being a problem.

Teehee at his antics though!
