is it a temp arrangement Sam???

No I think he will stay ... he has always lived round here and knows the area and unless Zephyr really turns on him which is unlikely as Olly is so soppy and submissive it seems unfair to send him off to somewhere new.   Unless of course i can tempt any of you to take him in  ;) ;)

but I'm sure you're relieved to have it settled now, and he is pretty irresistable, after all

Lord, and to think you lives are in their hands every time you fly with EasyJet!!!

Luckily not, if they're just tray gays (no homophobia is implied or should be inferred).

Glad Oliver has a lovely new home though.

Just caught up with this.  :innocent:

It's horrid when you're involved yourself and it's on your own doorstep.  :(

As Trigger says... you were slow off the mark. Fleece them for ALL the cat food and litter, carrier, toys and anything else they have laying around - it'll save them packing it. Plus £20 to get you started with food. Is he up to date with wormer, flea, vac? No? That's at least another £70 for first vac, drontal, fronline - you have rabbits so he can't come in the house until treated with quality products.  :sneaky:

I often ask myself what I do would if I actually caught a person in the act of abandoning an animal. I think if I was too scared to knock six bells out of them I'd certainly knock six bells out of their wallet.  ;) Sadly for me I only ever get the call from the person that next moves into the house and finds a dumped cat.  :tired:

Argh, some people!  Why didn't they just come round to see you to ask if you'd be happy to have him?  Preferably before they moved out!  At least he's found you, and will be looked after well - he sounds a lovely cat, too.

Least its a happy ending that Oliver will have a home who will love him. Who knows what would have happened if they just left him somewhere and you had not been looking after him

Well I'm pleased to say the blonde lump was indeed in the rabbit hutch when I got home.  So I decided to go and see the Trolley Dollies and find out the plans.  The lads are actually quiet sweet ... a real pair of camp little airy fairies  ... typical cute little trolley dollies.  I marched over to them cuz they were still fannying about loading the van and introduced myself.

<<Me>>  Hi, I'm Sam ... are you Olivers owners?
<<Them>>  Yeeeees
<<Me>>  What are you intending to do about him?
<<Them>> Don't know ... he never comes in anymore.
<<Me>>  Well he wouldn't would he .. you've got a DOG!
<<Them>>  Yes.  Caroline says he comes to your house .... would you like him?
<<Me>> OK.  I'll look after .
<<Them>>  Thank you ever so much ... we were worried about him ... but didn't really know what to do.

Apparently the dog is going to one their sisters and they are going to live in Milan!

Alls well that ends well I guess.

Aw I'm glad you've got him Sam, he's in the best place  ;) He's better off staying with you for sure  :)

I've got the same sort of things with neigbours cats who are outdoors most of the time. I've made a shelter for them and they spend hours in it - as we speak, both of them are curled up together in the one smallish shelter and they've been there since early this morning (if not overnight) - now if I hadnt seen my cats all day I'd be knocking on doors etc, but nothing  >:( I can't understand it.

The thing with Olly is he is so laid back ... as you can see on practically all his pictures he is on his back legs in the air like a pyjama case  ... he hasn't got a mean bone in his body even when Zephyr is yelling in his face Olly just rolls over and plays submissive.

My parents used to have a British Cream and he was a complete and utter softie so it is obviuosly the way they are ... unlike the highly strung, full on, foreigns!

I'm going home in about ½ hour so hopefully there will be a cream lump in my rabbit hutch who will be scooped up and shut in.

All cats are divine but the British breed have an extra special place in my heart. How anyone could elect to abandon one and leave it to completely fend for itself is beyond me, the b :censored: stards. Still, karma is a wonderful thing.....

Yep I remember, Sam.  Poor little fella, he's so lovely  :Luv:  Our Schui was believed to have just been left - I just can't believe how some people can just abandon their pets  :( As you say though it doesn't sound like he will be much cared for if they do take him.
Please consider the harder to home cats in rescue.

Unbelievable - irresponsible owners!!!!!
« Reply #1 on: January 12, 2010, 16:02:55 PM »
Not sure if you remember Oliver …. The big cuddly British cream that seems to spend every waking minute either in my garden,  the rabbit hutch or in the foul weather we have had lately curled up on the sofa at my house.  (pics here : http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,25932.0.html)

Well I have just had a call at work from Caroline (my cat sitter) who lives across the road from me to tell me that the two guys who live about 5 doors down from me and who are supposed to be Olivers parents are moving out.  There is a removal van outside at the moment and they are packing up and going (the are trolly dollies for Easyjet and since Easyjet are no longer flying out of East Midlands Airport they are having to go somewhere else).  Caroline happened to see them loading stuff up and went over and asked “so what’s happening with your cat” … to which they replied, with a shrug of the shoulders “dunno … nothing … he never comes home anyway”!

I must point out that I have never actively encouraged Olly to stay at mine …. The fact that he actually spends so much time in the rabbit hutch proves I don’t really want him in but when he was out and it started to snow I felt so sorry for him that I had to let him in.  He stayed at my house for the whole week only venturing out to have a quick pee in the garden and then came running back to the back door to be let in again.  During this time … there were no lost posters, no knocks on the door, in fact absolutely no interest in his “missing”.  As I was off work and home all day I didn’t feel bad about him staying in as I would have been there if anyone had come knocking and looking for him!

Anyway back to today … Caroline then said to the guys “I know he does spend a lot of time in Sam’s garden as her garden in fenced in and nice and quiet so there are always cats “chilling out” in it – maybe he is round there now!  Would you like me to go and have a look for him for you?”  to which they replied … No, it’s OK, he’ll be fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So it looks like they are abandoning him without a second thought - B$$tards!!!!!   If this is the case it looks like Oliver will be moving in with me (something I think he already decided he wanted to do about 18 months ago!).  Poor little lad.

I did think about going round this evening and jumping up and down and making a fuss but I thought about it and if they do take him with them they aren’t going to look after him any better wherever they go next and poor Olly may not have the benefit of a cosy rabbit hutch and nice quiet garden a few doors down at the next place so he is probably better off staying in an area where he knows his way around and has someone to make a fuss of him.
