Is there such a thing as a decongestant for cats ?

Can bisolvon be used in cats?  It's a POM so obviously your vet would know the answer and would have to agree, but I use it for one of my rabbits who suffers with chronic respiratory infections.  It thins the mucus in the nasal passages so it just helps any build up of goo to drain away a little more easily.  Like I say, I have no idea if it's safe/effective for cats but it might be worth asking.

My Schui was on Bisolvon powder, it keeps the mucus thin and good because has no side effects, just a pinch in the water - tasteless too.

No. she got a really blocked nose last year in the winter.

My ragdolls are indoor cats so its not an infectious thing as the others are fine.

I would just like to help her breath easier and maybe help her appetite.

She was poorly recently and she lost a kilo in weight. She had antibiotics and is better. She is maintaining her current weight but isn't gaining any.

Yep bisolvon can be given to cats.
If theres no signs of a cold i would be concerned whats causing it, could be a simple something like a grass seed up there

Boots sell a little bottle of infant saline that has a nozzle that just about fits into a kitty nostril. It works nicely.  Delphi will (with any luck) be a sneezer from saline. Swampy's a swallower unfortunately.
sorry to go on about France, but when you have a bad cold or flu congestion there, they treat it with salt water pumps and it really burns (like sniffing up sea water). so I'd say only a drop or two in each nostril.

My vet used to say to put a drop of Olbas oil on a tissue near by Schui to help keep his nose clear. Hope that Delphi is soon better

I was going to suggest saline water too, question is, what will your hands and arms look like after applying

Philip, I'm going through this same problem with Swampy. There are some anti histamines if it's allergy related. But we use inhalations (best method: take cat under duvet with you with steaming saucepan of boiling water and a couple of menthol crystals) and infant saline nose drops can help too. Don't use karvol, just the plain saline. I also put a drop of olbas on a tissue and put it under where he is sleeping.

Eucalyptus oil either in a burner or a few drops on bedding etc!

My Delphi has a blocked runny nose.

I don't think she has a cold or flu as she is bright in herself but you can hear her nose is blocked when she breathes.

I just wondered if anyone knows if there is a nasal decongestant for cats on the market ?
