Mixing up a neutered male with a female isnt a surprise but you can feel a definate difference in an entire tom, you cant miss feeling the peas in the pod!

I hope he gets a home sorted soon  ;D

Some vets havent got a clue and its so worrying!

When Kocka came to me I needed to know if he was a she or not, the vet I saw said Kocka was a she and I would know if she hadnt been neutered!

Kocka got ill and I took her back to the vets and saw the senior vet and he told me Kocka was definately a he and neutered!

By then Kocka had been registered with insurance as a she and stayed a she forever and even the vets had her down as a she, good job she never got any little boy problems  ;D

mind you, if Ginger hadn't been 'done', he might not have minded so much ;)

Cor! Now I could of believed that they made a mistake with sexing a kitten but not knowing an adult cat was neutered is just crazy!

Hi, here is an interesting update in little Gingers details: He IS neutered! and approx 2 years old. Also has two broken lower teeth. He had a health check yesterday as we were going to have him in the house until CP take him. CP had even sent a voucher through to the vet! He is a healthy cat and blood tests for fiv and felv were negative. The vet was incredulous that the previous check said he was not neutered and had probably never been a pet! She got her colleague to double- check! Anyway it is an important detail and have been updating other lost and found sites, feeling a bit of an idiot. Ginger is a lovely cat and deserves to be with a loving family- with no other cats! Very territorial!

Deff go with getting him neutered. As far as i know there is no legal stuff connected with it !
I have had a few stray cats neutered over the years

As you have had him 2 weeks and been advertising i think your fnie to neuter him, most rescues hold for 7 days before rehoming so your in the clear imo  ;D

 :welcome: btw

Thanks for looking out for him

I would clear it with them first but I'm sure the local CP branch would foot the bill for his checkup (and neuter) as it will save them doing it later. They will also advise which vets they deal with.

I also go with the neuter lobby and a certain charity would have rehomed by now!

He is absolutely gorgeous and to be so freiendly is quite unusual if he had never had a home.........I reckon he had a home once but has got lost when out searching for a lady cat. He may even have hitched a lift.

very few people keep unneutered toms because they spray - I take it you haven't had this problem with him, which is very lucky - and it is unusual for an unneutered tom to be friendly too, so he is not your common or garden feral or stray

if it were me, I would do  just what I thought was in his best interests, which is having him neutered   asap and giving him a good home

but then I have a very big sot spot for gingers ;)

My neighbour has been door to door seeing if anyone knew about him. She also put a paper collar  on him with contact details on but had no response. I rang the local vet to register him as a stray and have posted on several online 'Lost and Found' sites.  I was thinking of getting him health -checked and neutered as it could be a while before CP can take him. The vet seemed to think he had never been a pet and had fended for himself all his life. We may keep him if no-one claims him. Should I be doing more to find if he has an owner? And would it be wrong (legally) to have him neutered? Thanks for your comments btw.

what's the legal position with having him neutered while he waits for a rescue place? CP will have him done like a shot one he is with them, and even if an owner does turn up, I don't see why they should be cross if he was prevented from siring any more kittens

though few unneutered males are ever claimed, I would guess

and Jane would be given vouchers, wouldn't she?

Lovely ginger cat found on our street approx 2 weeks ago. Lost, thin and very hungry. He is about 4 years old and not neutered or microchipped. He has unusual pale green eyes, is very friendly and vocal. Is living in our porch for now while we try to find his owner and is on a waiting list with local CPL.
