he says to wait to see how it goes for a while, he did all he could while he was under GA, he will need to go back for some xrays and scans again in a few months time to see how everything is going. The good news is that none of his vital organs seem to be effected at present and it is hoped that as he grows that this will still be the case, but we aren't going to know that until he does get bigger though

Was the vet able to give you any more idea on his FCKS and if it can be corrected?

In answer to your question we don't know if it will ever be corrected, he is in surgery now so when he comes out, we should get a better idea of the treatment needed etc, but in till then we are very much in the dark

Just had a look at his pic bless him 

I also just looked up about FCKS and it reminded me of another kitten I came across a few years back and I'm sure he had a special operation to pull his ribcage back out and had to wear a special brace with ties or something to help keep it out while he was growing.  It may ahve been something completely different i am not sure.  He belonged to a breeder, she kept him and paid for his treatment etc and I only came across her because I was researchign BSH's when I rehomed Bourneville and same across another forum but it was more for breeders so I eventually came to CC.  I think he was an NFC or Maine Coon.

Can FCKS be corrected at all or will he just live with it ok?

I'm the same, at xmas there was a Rotty running around in the road when I was on my lunch on day. No one would stop to help her cos she was a rotty. Lil old me managed to rescue her,stay out in the freezing cold for 3 hours waiting for the dog warden and also found her owners so she was reunited.  My only frustration is I wish I would do more.

I no longer have a paypal account but if I can donate in another way I would like to contribute.

I was just thinking of it from your point of view *hug*

I know he is in the best place now and he would probably have been PTS if he hadn't come to you. I just feel that if people are going to breed animals (for money) they should make sure they have the money to cover these eventualities. I guess its just the way I think (for example when I moved out of home I made sure I was responsible for myself and didn't rely on my parents - I don't like other people having to pick up the pieces for me).

I hope you understand and it was no way a personal attack on the previous owners and I'm not trying to say you shouldn't help. I think its great that you are able to offer the help and support he needs. Just thought it was a little unfair on you

I can see your point,but being in rescue,you want to do all you can to help,if you can. To be fair on his last owner she had spent a lot of money already on trying to keep him a life,she couldn't really care for his specialist needs and so did the right thing by handing him over,she could have just had him put to sleep when he was younger or handed him to anyone,where he might not of got the care needed,which in my book is far more irresponsible. We only agreed to take him on because I already have experience with cats that need specialist care(one being the lovely socs that lost his fight early this year http://www.ukrcc.co.uk/socrates.shtml ) and we have some funding,so we are able to get him the treatment he needs immediately

Poor little boy, I hope all goes well with his op.

As you stated this op is going to cost you guys a fair bit and I was wondering if the previous owner, whom I'm assuming was a breeder, if going to put anything wrong towards the funding? I hope so, if not it just seems a bit irresponsible to me that they breed these pedigree cats and if any have problems and aren't sellable then they want rid and pass on to already struggling rescues. It may just be me but it seems a little unfair. Sorry if I have got the wrong end of the stick, I have just gone on the assumption of him coming from a breeder.

Peggle is a 14 week old blue colour point ragdoll that we have taken into rescue. He has FCKS and has a deformed back leg,which will need to be removed, but despite being very poorly, he is still a lively affectionate little boy.
Peggle is at the vets at the moment to see what treatment he can have done.
His vets costs are likely to be 100s of pounds, until we get the full assessment from the vets we won't fully know.

I will keep you all updated to how this little man is getting on :cat:
