I would opt for a bland diet, needs to be complete as shes dinky so not just chicken, id use waltham sensitivity pouches. Feed her small regular meals, eating excessively can also upset stomachs.
Take a stool sample and get it checked out for nasties. Worms can be persistant blighters to shift and often dont come out with panacur ask for drontal or milbemax.
Her bloating can be down to having a horrible gassy tummy so dont worry too much for fip, diarrhoea is a common problem in kittens and most wont have anything sinister

My first advice would be off to the vet, secondly worming if tummy swollen - worm over a 3 dayperiod

If she only wants "liquid" type foods mix some mashed up kitten food with cat milk pop in the micorwave for 10 seconds and you have kitten gloop - messsy but they can lap it up

Kitten is to young to be tested for FIP Gill - due to whatever is going on white cell count would be high - we have a a one year old whose Mother died from FIP and baby Beijing is a Corona virus carrier confirmed when she was 9 months old.

Also try to keep kitten quieter than making it play all the time

If all else fails change vet and find one who can help!

I am sure I am worrying you about nothing but its the distended tum that worries me.

If you have a better vet available then your next visit if needed , I think should be to him/her. Cos the one you have seen does seem to be sticking his finger in the air and guessing.

Kittens so young go down hill very quickly and any sign of this happening get her to a vet immediately, I hope that she will stop having a problem tomorrow 

My knowledge about kittens is very limited and hopefully someone here with real kitten knowledge will be able to assist you betterr than myself.

Whilst waiting for more knowledgeable peeps to come along, I too think she should be treated for worms and would go back to vets and ask for an appointment with the most senior vet.  As Gill said, the vet you saw sounds very odd indeed if he/she did not suggest worming treatment after a flea infestation. 

Change of food also likely factor to cause upset tum but feeding cat milk sounds very odd indeed for a kitten with the runs.  Important to understand that Diarrhoea in one so young can become serious very quickly.

I think she'll need to go to another vet!!

I hope one of our kitten experts will be able to help you......ummmmmm did the vet mention the dreaded FIP at all?

Hi guys,

the vet wasn't great, but did tell me it's not a worm problem. She's got the runs because she was weaned too early and quick. Didn't really provide many suggestions as how to solve this other than kitten milk formula. Any other suggestions form you guys as to what I could do? She's been on kitten milk for a day now, and I've not seen much improvement! She does seem like a happy cat - still playing and up a lot, so doesn't seem as though it's affecting her too much (I hope!).
The vet did say if she's not better in a few days to take her back, but I want her better before that happens!

Thanks guys. Will get her to the vet tomorrow. yeah - I changed it. They claimed she was on whiskas wet and biscuits - but she doesn't like that - and won't touch biscuits!

Mark is 100% correct about the belly full of worms especially as she had a flea problem.....and please also follow his advice and get something from your vet DO NOT buy over the counter stuff.

The other thing also is.....have you changed from the food the kitten was having before you got him ?
A change in food can also cause an upset tummy

Has she had a vet check? - It's more likely to be a belly full of worms. Please don't buy over the counter products. It really needs to be a vet product - especially for a baby.

Hi guys, sorry if someone else has already posted something similar.
I got a new kitten six days ago (she's eight weeks old), and I'm a little worried about her. She does have a case of the runs (had this for a few days now, but she doesn't seem in discomfort or anything) and I'm not entirely sure if she has a swollen tummy. I've had a good feel, and she doesn't seem in any pain - is this really serious?
When I got her she had a massive infestation of fleas - which I've managed to finally get under control - could that and a change of cat food be the problem?
