The problem is I know of no-one in the Bristol area who wants a cat.  My best friend said he would take Tango, but he has a cat of his own and I think the two would end up fighting - Tigger's very territorial and Tango has no fear.  So perhaps someone here knows of someone in Bristol who'd love a sleek, black, siamese cross who's very sociable and very vocal?  He has the most beautiful grey-green eyes, but his demeanor can be a bit alarming at first until you realise what a softie he really is!

it wouldnt be the first time a outdoor cat just moved house and went to live elsewhere, if you get me they would never know.........unfortunatly it would probably be replaced by another cat/kitten and the cycle would start again

In this case, I don't think so.  I think they regard getting Tango (from tesco, haha) as a bit of a mistake - I think he was meant for the kids, but they probably quickly discovered that feeding him diminished the amount of cash they have for booze, given the regularity with which they come round here on the scrounge.

first thing I'd do would be to have a chat with the lady your neighbour thinks might be feeding Tango - she might well share your concerns

perhaps between you you could set him up with some proper shelter and regular feeding, and some deworming and flea treatment too?

I wish.  I'm not sure which neighbour it is, although I have an idea and will try talking to her.  I am given to understand that she herself has a house full of pets and going by Tango's almost continual occupation of my garden, night and day, I don't suppose she's taken him in.  Unfortunately I've just lost my job which means that, for now, I can't afford vet care for a fourth cat!  But you're right, a word with this lady might help a bit.

If you havent lived there long I would be wary of neighbours and saying anything to them cos as soon as you do, if you needed to report them they would know who did it.....believe me I know although it was not an animal issue.

Newbies in an area are often the outsiders for a very long time although neighbours would try and make you believe otherwise!

RSPCA won't do anything about the Rottie I'm afraid. Not if she has water, food  and adequate housing for the weather. I've also never heard of a requirement which states dogs must be walked .. even then you'd have to prove they don't walk her. They might walk her at 4am or 11pm

sounds like a lovely cat who could probably disappear quite easily (as long as its not chipped but I doubt it)  but the poor dog will need the rspca to help I think

Hi - sorry haven't posted in a while.

I have a dilemma:

My next door neighbours (chavvy lot) own a cat and a dog (a rotty).   I have concerns about the dog as I have NEVER seen them take her for a walk, not once.  She is locked up in the back garden and lives in the garden shed.

I am even more concerned about their beautiful cat, Tango, a black Siamese cross.  When my neighbour came round on the scrounge (again) he told me that Tango 'won't come in' and that he thinks a lady over the road feeds him.  I asked him if he put food out for Tango, and he said no.  He said he thinks it might be the kids that are deterring Tango from coming indoors.  However, Tango is a VERY sociable cat, and apparently afraid of nothing.  He terrorises my lot, you could say he is their nemesis, and tries to get a sneaky go at their food bowls if the door's open and I'm not looking.  And I have discovered that he loves nothing more than a good belly rub, and winds himself around my legs whenever he can.  I try to discourage him during the day when my cats are out and about, and he is obviously very intelligent as he (unlike most animals) understands pointing.  So I say to him quietly 'out' and off he goes in the direction indicated.  After my lot are shut in for the night, I sometimes go out into the garden and pet Tango, but I won't feed him as I know he upsets my lot and it would cause all sorts of problems if I did.  However, he is very thin, even my neighbour remarked on it (The why don't you FEED him!! ???).

So my dilemma is this, should I let things carry on the way they are (he's obviously getting food from somewhere, although he's not receiving routine vet care or de-flea treatment or anything).  Or, should I try to find a home for him?  And if so, how?  He's not exactly a stray, but IMO he's not receiving the care he should get.  But I daren't cross my neighbours as I suspect they would cause me or my cats all sorts of grief if I did.  I've thought about trying to find someone who'd like him but I know of no-one who doesn't have a cat already.  I suspect my neighbours would be fairly amenable to the notion of another home for Tango, it's reporting them to the RSPCA or the like that would cause trouble.  I haven't lived here that long so it wouldn't take much for them to discover who had reported them.

So - anyone any ideas what to do?
