So so pleased.  Sending gentle snuzzles to Storm, and may she continue to make a speedy recovery, especially now she's home where she belongs.  :cat rub:

Sorry for the delay in up-date, my computer refused to get on to the internet for two days - STORM IS HOME :wooooo:.

I think she is a little shell shocked over everything but she is on the mend and, although on medication etc, is definitely improving.

Thanks everyone for enquiring and sorry for the lack of response, been hectic here with more kittens coming in and some needing handrearing at only three days old.

Storm stayed in the hospital over the weekend but has improved considerably.  Is eating better, passed a horrible green poo, but at least it was definitely a poo and not pus and it proves things are working inside.

Hoping she may be able to come home today but will report when I have further news.  I feel really guilty because we just haven't had time to visit her, vets is approximately 15 miles away and with the babies here and car-booting to raise money at the weekend just had no time, but I know she has been in good hands and getting lots of fuss.

A glimmer of light - Storm seems to be doing a bit better.  She is not passing as much "yuck" as she was and has eaten a little.  Emily, my vet, says that what she has passed can hardly be called normal but it is definitely not as disgusting as in the past and definitely not as much, so hopefully the metrinidozale seems to be doing it's stuff.

They are keeping her in again tonight and we will re-assess tomorrow but she may be able to come home if things continue to improve.

So pleased keep all fingers cross for my little girl. :thanks:

Fingers crossed for Storm and her test results :wish:

Julie was it giardia?

Giardia isn't that rare in cats though MM (at least not when you use American forums, it is mentioned a lot).

Fingers crossed the test results show something easily treatable Lesley.

sending lots of healing vibes and  for you ... come on storm you can do it kiddo!!!

Does sound very baffling though can't think of anything similar we've encountered at all.  She couldn't have ingested something she shouldn't have?? xx

Poor Lesley!

It's awful when they present with a problem like this, with no obvious cause.  Keeping fingers crossed too, for Storm.

I reckon Golden Retriever wanted a bit of fuss too.  :)

Just spoken to the Vet and there is no change really in Storm, still dripping something mysterious from her backside  and still everything passing through her.

Every vet in the practice has had a look at her case notes now and they are all baffled.  Bloods came back with a high white blood cell count, which is what was expected to be seen with such an infection but we are basically now waiting for faecal culture to throw some light on the diagnosis.  Vet is starting treatment with metronidozale today, so maybe that will have some effect. :crossed:

Poor cats at home are getting very worried about me as I keep lifting their tails and checking on their backsides , they are all getting a bit of a complex

Bill up to £417 now so last week's boot money and this week's as well already used up. :'(

I've only just seen this Lesley, I'm so sorry to hear about the little Jacksons and about Storms illness, it certainly sounds like an odd one! I hope the vet can figure out what is causing the infection and treat it. She is obviously a little fighter! The girls are sending purrs and headbutts and I will be sending get well vibes Storms way!

We've had a few strange tummy bugs this year. Can't remember the name of it and our Welfare lady is away. Something beginning with G. 1 adult plus 2 kittens I think it total since Easter. The vet said it was a human virus.  Anyway, they are scratching their heads too as it is so rare for cats to get this and all cases here came from different places and being cared for by different fosterers. The good news is that it requried a special human antibiotic and problem cleared.  ;) When she comes back I'll ask her what it was.  :sneaky:

Big hugs for Storm.   :Luv2:

Storm is still baffling the Vets.  She has eaten a little but basically everything she takes in is coming out the other end within a couple of hours almost in the same state it went in as, whether it be food, pro kolin or anything.

She seems brighter in herself and the Vet is going to see how she goes without being on the drip today.  Basically all we can do is wait for blood and faecal results from the Lab, though the In house bloods show nothing outstanding.

She is interested in what is going on around her and is purring again now but until we have some answers she will have to stay at the hospital.  I must admit I miss my little girl :'(
