I hope that Angela (Pudding) won't mind but I just had to show you lot a picture of her new foster cat Zareth.
Zareth was reported to us last Thursday. He had been visiting a gentleman in Herne Bay for a couple of weeks. The man became concerned because Zareth appeared to be hanging his front leg and was very nervous and darted off as soon as he was approached. The man did have a feeling that Zareth knew he was in trouble and was appealing to the man for help... so he called us.
Luckily we squeezed and shoved and made room as injured strays always take priority here. Angela delivered a trap to the gentleman and Zareth took very little effort to trap.
Sadly on close inspection Zareth has somehow lost the lower part of his leg. You can just see the stump resting above his back paw. The vet says this injury could have been like it for 6-8 weeks. We have no idea how it happened but it could have been that Zareth got trapped and either pulled or bit his own foot off to escape.
He was in a lot of pain when we first got him to the vet, but he has now been pumped with pain killers and seems a lot brighter and very friendly we are told. He will have a full amputation tomorrow and go to Angela for recovery. It's a good job he's not coming to me as he may not make it out the door again.... I just LURVE a soppy tabby.
